I keep saving my most of my empty pellet tins. I use a few of them for lubing my slug cores. But in general they sit stacked on a couple of shelves. I had a “Brilliant” idea for a safe exploding target, but it wasn’t fully thought out and fizzled 😂🤣😂. Here’s one shelf with the last few months of empties - seems a shame to waste them. These are mostly the AEA tins. We should have an empty tin challenge.IMG_6994.webp

That doesn’t include the H&N, JSB and JTS, though there may be a few of their tins in that pile. The cost of .30 ammo is catching up with me though. That’s the beauty of .177 and .22.

Even 177 and 22 add up pretty quick with shipping. I know it seems like $85 every time i order 4 or 5 tins.
I keep ordering every two weeks or so. That’s because I cringe at the cart total. I hate to say it, but I lost the safety spring on the Panthera. Because of the ship cost for the $2 spring, I added 6 tins of pellets to make myself feel better.

I thought I’d fill one with baking soda and place a balloon filled with vinegar in the middle and then glue it shut. I realized that the pellet hole would allow the Co2 to escape and stop it from popping open. But, I thought that it would at least foam up like a volcano and give a fun visual. But, it was a dud. Maybe the next project will be some 3d printed hangers for a hanging target using the tins.

I keep all my tins as well . . . especially the screw on tops. I've got stock screws, I've got stop pins for my scopes, I've got replacement screws, washers of all shapes and sizes, oh yes, all those pins for those Weihrauchs that require them. I've got labeled tins for about everything I need . . . when I can find them. I spend 3 or 4 hours at the bench and all those tins start to look alike.. . . because they are.. Everything says JSB or Benjamin Single Die on it. What to do, oh what to do. Oh ya, i forgot, lots of H & N tins as well. I'll get it all organized. . . someday. Orv.

I guess if a person were to pack the tin with pea gravel, a few dabs of super glue and hang them however is preferred that's a cheap target. Might try it soon.

1/4 or 3/8 all thread rod 10 ft stick is 10-15$, somewhat bendable for hangers. A person could get wood "sammy screws" that rod threads into ... unlimited possibilities

Amen to that. I'm squeezing my .30's till they cry. My Macavity thinks I have abandoned it. The .22's are catching all the squirrels, even the .25s are getting jealous. I've got 2 .177s, but I just can't load the pellets in the dang things. Guess that will teach me to only get one with a magazine next time... if there is one anyway.
I was hoarding empty cans until the much better half got on me for ""junking up the armory", as she calls it. So I started using the small ones as targets. The screw tops are the only ones I save...sort of anyway.
