I have found four PCPs to be “more than enough” for my needs. One would really handle all my pesting duties. The other three are luxuries… God Bless America…

What you own I’d say are the perfect 4 for what you do.I have found four PCPs to be “more than enough” for my needs. One would really handle all my pesting duties. The other three are luxuries… God Bless America…![]()
I've done that for years. It was the main reason at one time I had 15 air guns. Now I am down to 6, but that won't last very long.Who thinks about the variables and goes back and forth?
I’ve decided that the Concept Lite XR 22 I have doesn’t fit my needs. I should have bought an Atomic. Now I have one thought in my mind 177 or 22. Then I have a parallel thought of Leyla 2.0 or Katran vs Atomic.
I seem to keep coming back to 177 Atomic or Ranger. I will tell myself that’s the rifle, then other rifles creep back in.
I’m putting up two rifles for sale this week to fund the new rifle, so this thought process will no doubt continue.
plus oneMy days of polishing turds are over thankfully, I have a close friend that continually purchases inexpensive fixer-uppers. I've been living vicariously through his experience and am really enjoying not having to spend the time and money anymore. Haha
No they don’t according to AoA’s website.I’m pretty sure the atomic and ranger have the same length barrel.
They also put the overall length of the atomic at 23” and Ranger at 26-29”. Tell me how that’s possible if the atomic has a 2” longer barrelNo they don’t according to AoA’s website.
Ranger 10”
Atomic 12”
Due to the nature of PCP design, this is entirely plausible. Also stock, chassis and shroud play a role in overall length. So to use that as the basis of how long the barrel might be is presumptuous. They also put the overall length of the atomic at 23” and Ranger at 26-29”. Agreed. So is presuming they said the correct barrel length. Looking at pictures, they look completely identical. I don’t see 2” of extra barrel sitting in front of that cylinder.Due to the nature of PCP design, this is entirely plausible. Also stock, chassis and shroud play a role in overall length. Same thing with me most of the time and then I just buy a new rifle ( just because) lol. I think most of us do a bit of research before making a purchase.I likewise have a tendency to analyze, analyze, analyze then buy and wonder, wonder wonder if item Y would have been better. I am new to air guns but have owned well over 300 powder burners at one time or another. At this point I am thinking strongly about a Texas Air Force utility rifle as best choice for a newby. They apparently don't have much to go wrong and no one else has the guarantee they do, unless I am mistaken.
I haven't bought one yet but when I do the wondering will start again.
I believe you owned one previously? If so, you know they are solid, the folding stock I can see as an advantage. It definitely is on my Pathfinder. But as far as the HS adjustor? Definitely over hyped for the power range of the Atomic/Ranger platform. As received, the three TP setting handle all the duties of this small, awesome PCP within it practical useage range. Which is out to 50 yards in a good shooters hands. From 10 to 50+ yards they simply get it done. Practical limitations and conditions being considered, of course …I like the Ranger over the atomic, but that’s bc of the folding stock, and ability to adjust the hammer spring externally a little.
The lelya cocking is very chunky. The simple magazine, and super small stature is nice, but I couldn’t stand the cocking. The katran is nice, but there’s the krait option too. I don’t like their magazines though.
The epic is nice, but after watching sub12’s tear down, they scare the crap outta me with all the moving/adjustable parts. I’m a simple man. The atomic/ranger platform is simple enough, but refined enough to get the job done.
Not necessarily to adjust power Persay, but I did adjust mine to improve efficiency. It wasn’t perfectly tuned when I received it, but a little playing with hammer spring, and the efficiency increased quite a bit at the same power level. I’ve noticed this with almost all the pcp’s I’ve owned in the past. Not a bash on BRK by any means, but always the reason I like the ability to adjust it easily.I believe you owned one previously? Not taken as a bash, your opinions are just as valid. I should’ve worded it differently. For instance my Atomic sends CPHPs at 725 FPS, TP on high for 17 FPE as received from AOA. I could up the regulator and HS to achieve what? Maybe 800 FPS, less shots and a harsher shot cycle? On the other hand my Pathfinder which sends the CPHPs at Hi: 846 Low: 835 Avg: 841 for 22.4 FPE would make more viable use of the HS adjustor. So that if wanted, closer to 28 FPE could be achieved… I don’t believe increasing HS tension on stock Atomic will increase efficiency, as they are tuned optimally out the box. They are meant to operate within a specific power band. Going lower in power, I can see makes sense. Upping the HS tension and trying to turn them into lil’ magnums while “increasing” efficiency? Not optimal or advisable…Not necessarily to adjust power Persay, but I did adjust mine to improve efficiency. You are not alone, and if you are honest with yourself, that is a positive thing. I always ensure to consider whether I truly need something, whether it meets the requirements, and whether I am capable of addressing any potential issues. In my view, there is no such thing as an inexpensive PCP so give it a lot of thought.Who thinks about the variables and goes back and forth?
