I've had this gun for around 10 months now, and in that time frame it has been my go to pellet shooter for pesting and plinking. Now that might not seem like a long time, but let me clarify, its no safe queen. It has spent most its life in my truck, folded up under the seat. No case or padding, just in the back cab with temps from well below freezing to now well over 100 degrees. I hunt and pest in mountains and on dairy farms as well as some ranches, so conditions are dusty, dirty, sometimes wet and cold and really just not ideal for filling these guns with air...but hey, thats what I need these guns for and the conditions I need them to perform in. Aside from AAA Evol, this is the only other gun I own now and both have proven thier reliability. I estimate I have well over 15k pellets down the barrel of the katran and it has been flawless.

Performance wise, I have my reg at about 135 bar and with that I shoot jts 18.13 at 780 fps for close to 60 shots from a full 300 bar fill. Not bad for 165cc tube. Working on or adjusting the reg is about as simple and easy of a job you can ask. Cocking is EFFORTLESS, If I need a follow up shot my index finger is all that is needed to cock while my hand and eye stay perfectly in place. The gun is very light and nimble. I adjusted the trigger to my liking and it is phenomenal. Barrel system is stout and overall the build quality is just outstanding.

The gun does come with 3 factory baffles, which do help but a moderator is neccessary IMO. I have had a few donny fl mods on top of the baffles, and they were very quiet..but the goal of getting a compact, is to have a short nimble gun and with those on they were a bit cumbersome. So instead, I decided to remove two baffles and throw on this impulse air 1200, which keeps the gun nice and quiet but streamline and short. I also keep my huma fill probe in all the time, which is much nicer than the factory fill probe.

Some things I'm not fond of, the magazines. While easy to load and well made, the spring rate is too light. Just handling them you can start dropping pellets and if you have the gun pointed up at we'll say 45 degree angle, the pellets will alot of times fall back into the probe side and jam. Ill be getting some carm mags to replace them eventually, but when loaded in the gun and cycling the mags do work well minus the pointing up condition. I also like the anti double load feature, something you lose by going to the carm mags, as well as getting 13 shots from the carm vs 16 from factory. A couple give and takes. The other thing I wasn't fond of was the factory tune. For some reason, they come with regs set way too low, making the gun "puffy loud" and inefficient. I can't understand the logic behind sending them out this way, but luckily that is very simple to change.

Overall I love this little gun, and wouldn't hesitate to by another or recommend them (which I have). It has earned its place as one of my two guns pest arsenal for good reason. Its reliable, simple and incredibly accurate.

Just saw this review. I now have four Katrans, two LB HP's(.22&.25 )& a LB& Standard Bottle in .22. Yes the mag's do tend to irk me a bit w/ the drop pellet syndrome . If I had started out with the Airmaks brand , I may never had anything else!
