Others AEA 7000psi Compressor ?

Pressures that high are an accident waiting to happen. I had a fitting rated at over 4500 psi fail and the pressure in the tank was only 3600 psi. That convinced me I never wanted to play with pressures over 4500 psi. Can you imagine you fall with your gun and your tank fails at 7000 psi ? Come to think of it, it probably won’t make any difference anymore.

I believe as pcp power boundaries are pushed (ex. Huben GK1 pistol, AEA everything) pressures will go up in the industry (again some manufacturers, not all) Plain and simply it's not needed. I'd set tank fill limit to 4500 and run all guns on 3600. The Brand new Black Wolf is still running...yup... 3600psi fill. Look at high compression race motors,...powerful? Insanely. But how many laps till you rebuild the engine? The trade offs are real, and imo not worth it. My face is 1.5 feet away from the tank/bottle when i shoot. 7k psi? No thanks!

What fittings did you use that failed?
 
The potential problems lie here: 4500psi has been the standard for quite some time now. The Hill Evo for example (compressor I hope to buy in a few months🤩) was (somewhat recently) upgraded so it could make 4500 psi. That's all I'll ever need. Problem with a 7k is people not in the know may run that on lesser quality fittings, hoses, etc. Problem #2: Pressure-stop quits working and the compressor keeps chugging along till it blows the tank or whatever else. My biggest problem with it? Bigger chance for leaks and stress on the internals with higher pressures
Also** when i see gun specs it means nothing without fill pressure and tank size.
Many pcps make impressive power & good shot count on 3600psi. That was increased on some to run 4500psi. In my mind it's like making a higher power model of car X but it needs premium gas to run it. Lol I'm no longer interested. 7k psi? That's Jet fuel! 😅
What would kill you if miss handled 3600 psi or 7k psi I think your splitting hairs.
 
Well I will try to make it simple for you. Let’s say you get shot with a 22 lr in the chest. You might die but your chance of living are much higher than if you are shot in the chest with a 44 magnum. 7000 psi is almost double what most guns are using today.
 
I have 4 high dollar PCP’s and the lowest tank fill out of the 4 is 3000 psi. There is a reason why the tanks on the gun and fill tanks have expiration dates. High pressure is nothing to take lightly. I have worked in emergency medicine and as safety officer on deep sea oil rigs. When I was in the military I investigated an accident where a private moved an oxygen welding bottle with a safety cap that he didn’t screw on. It fell over, broke the valve and went thru 2 cinder block walls before coming to a rest. And those tanks are not filled anywhere near 7000 psi. You can buy a gun or compressor that pressurizes to 7000 psi and I hope it never fails on you but for me, I want nothing to do with them.

3600 psi can kill you too is my point, I'll bet there are some break barrel shooter who say the same thing about 3600 psi fill rate.

You have to follow the safety guidelines. As someone with prior service, you should know this well. I have fired many M47s and TOW missiles, both of which can cause bodily harm ten times worse than 7000 PSI if a mishap occurs. It all comes back to the importance of safety guidelines—if you don't follow them, it’s here today, gone tomorrow. Nine times out of ten, it's the misuse and not the rifle, gun, or whatever.

It's the entire premise of running higher pressures that I dislike. The damage potential is greater, but yeah dead is dead, I get it. Other reasons...with higher pressures, gun internals are being hammered harder, your seals & hoses, etc WILL blow out sooner, it WILL be worse when it does, and you'll be spending more coin to run it. Higher pressure gun specs might seem better on some of these guns, but imagine what companies like FX/Daystate/AirArms/Airforce, etc could do if they built guns that high a pressure. Then once people get comfortable and complacent, they slap a 4500 psi fitting inline and boom goes the fitting. Or they blow the 7k hose and can only find a 5k replacement so they run that, etc. Im all for higher flow valves, better regs, porting, pushing the limits, etc but not this. My point: The industry/hobby doesn't need it....The Giriandoni rifle proved that (and every AirForce big bore ever made).

The mcar is built like no other and made to withstand 7000 psi. Tex-Rex is 4500 psi. The air gun industry was very slow in improvements in power before AEA came along and now the race is on whether you like it or not. It's called "evolvement". Man is always going to want more.
 
i own this compressor and as far as im concerned its a piece of garbage. it has been nothing but problems since i purchased it. the 12V inputs won't work with a 12V transformer, they require more like 14-16V. it just gives an error. the 110/220 transformer that was included, for an upcharge, was a cheapo $30 item spotted on amazon that included a broken plug on one end and a plug that wouldnt even stay inserted on the other. after replacing the entire cord with a "real" one, the transformer fried in under 5 minutes of usage.

at this point i wasnt feeling confident that this compressor would be safe to use... but i continued WITH CAUTION...

after purchasing a "real" transformer, the unit successfully filled my airgun to 2725 psi and would not go any higher... it just ran and ran and ran. and it struggled the last 300 psi, the fan going constantly.

so, if you are concerned about the safety of 7000psi i really don't think its a concern,. you'll never get there,.

THAT SAID, if anyone has had a better experience with this compressor, please please let me know. i have written it off.

AND... i am accepting suggestions for a solid, reliable, safe compressor that can get me up to 5000psi. i want to fill carbon fiber tanks to then fill my 4500 psi airguns... so a little more than 4500 would be ideal. but i'll take 4500 for many of the reasons discussed in this thread. ie. safety of all the fittings, hoses and parts.

First of all welcome to the forum! Sorry you're having trouble with the compressor. Is it too late to return for a refund or is that not an option? Otherwise check all connections and hoses for leaks and go from there. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

thanks for the suggestions... yeah no leaks at all. at 2700psi you'd hear a hiss or feel the air coming out of a connection, even if faintly. nothing. i've worked with air before just not at these pressures.

as for the return, yeah they gave me a (bizarre) address to return it to but google maps confirmed it actually exists. i've been procrastinating shipping it back as i was working through some of the above "fixes." only today did i try the new transformer. and... 2700 psi is better than zero, at the moment. that said, it'd be dreamy to get to 4500. OR HIGHER ;)

i found a few other 4500 psi compressors, and i think a 6000psi one, that are in the $2-4K price range. i'll post my notes on them in a bit. i was hoping someone on here might have some suggestions. its hard to know what's real and what's not online... that's why these forums are so useful.

You're welcome and good luck! 6 of my rifles are 4350 psi fills. A few are 3650, and the rest are 3000. At 2700 psi i would not be able to even use yours. Hopefully a solution will come soon.
 
I have an Alkin that is over 3 years old. Has all the bells and whistles. It is the upright model. Only thing I have done over the years is change oil and filters. I think it is the best commercial unit for the money. Mine is the W1 series. If you are going to fill tanks commercially get the W2 series. It has a more robust lower end. The W1 series is more than enough to last a lifetime for you and a friend to fill your tanks.
 
ahhh, ok, i found their high-pressure-air-compressors page ;) there are several models and variations... W31 Mariner, W32 Mariner, W4, etc. many of them are are rated up to 6000psi. this looks perfect. i'll give them a call this week and see what they say. i really appreciate your suggestion.
