Is there any information about magazine length? Is it different from prior EVOLs? Long heavy slugs are on my mind.

I'm pretty sure that they are original Evol length magazines in the new HPS. This shouldn't be a problem with the magazine cycling slugs up to .525" in length, which is pretty good weight in reality. As an example, the Nielson dish bashed 65 grain slugs are only .415" long, so there's plenty of room to go even heavier, including adding rebated boat tail base.

I'm not sure about that. But machining some grooves inside the aluminum magazine and lid will only result in an additional 5 to 10 grains. That's not much considering the length and weights that we are already able to work with to find accuracy and down range BC.
yea I know theres not much wiggle but I though he had post he was making one to except a new slug but I could be just mixing up a couple threads topic and guns?

Wow coming up on a year since this thread was started!
We know Tom was moving a while ago, and he has things going with Sub-MOA company. Would be fun to see something or hear something about the rifle. We all know that Tom is busy and is working to get the guns out.

Hi Pan,
A longer, heavier projectile will have better sectional density than a more stubby one and thus suffer less from aerodynamic drag in all it's forms. Not to over simplify, but think of a javelin vs. a trash can lid flying thru the air. Thus, a long heavy slug, adequately stabilized, will have a flatter trajectory and be less susceptible to wind deflection than a shorter one.
How much the above matters at any given target distance is weighed against challenges in accelerating that projectile to a useful velocity, the ergonomics of that gun, challenges in making the airgun to do the acceleration and making that projectile. Yes, it is easier to shoot a long heavy bullet from a firearm than an airgun.

you miss understand when I say not much to be gained I am referring the the magazines. I do not beleave Tom is making a diferant one just as I recall he was going take what he has for size and possible make one that will take the longer slugs but in that theres not much to be gained.
I am familiar with the potential benifits of longer slugs

Just heading home from EBR. What a great week for American Air Arm’s, Team Evolution and the HPS .30.
Rooster Hodges took the Gold in the junior division, I took 5th in Sportsman, and Claudio Flores took 1st in Pro.
For Rooster and I, it was our first time shooting the HPS .30, and it was only my second time shooting an EVOL period.
This new platform with the Sub MOA barrel is a perfect combination.

Claudio also shot one of the HPS 22’s with a Sub MOA barrel in 50yd BR. It was ridiculously accurate. He was shooting JTS 22gr at almost 1000fps!! Cannot remember exactly his scores, but he was in the 240’s with all 3 cards.

I thought you meant they were ready for retail sale. Unless it's a secret I'd expect to see them posted on the AoA website with specs.
