Do these regulator settings only apply to the soon to be released model(s)?

Yes due to the plenum the new models come with and the completely different valve system, the older evols are not capable of producing the same power as the new HPS. Nothing wrong with the older models but the new system is capable of more power.

I will snap some pictures at the range for you. I do know they are in the black box with a foil wrapper on the trays

The packages will look the same but they will say V2 on them if theyre the V2

Here is a screenshot of the session today. I was able to find and adjust the velocity to get get an EXTREMELY TIGHT VELOCITY GROUP!! I was able to do this eith each of the ammo that was shot today.



Was getting a SUPERB group with the JTS ammo, with a single hole group at 100 yards. About this time I was getting rushed out of the range as there were people waiting.

Here is the various ammo I was shooting today. The ZAN seem to be the version 1, and I was having the same issues yup were CTAirgunner. Getting a great group and then 2 fliers. Really irritating to say the least.




My buddy and I were planning on shooting in the 22lr league this year with our airguns. We were ready to go to shoot with our airguns at 50 yards. After they saw the groups at 50 yards with my Paradigm they said heck no, it's not fair. So I asked about shooting at a 100 yards with the HPS30. At first was told sure, again they were thinking there is no way an airgun can group well enough. Well needless to say they don't want us to shoot against them with the HPS either! Lol



Tomorrow I will stop again and get a solid zero and data for the match on Sunday. Can't wait, hope it will be decent enough to shoot this Sunday.

Is there actually a version 2 of the Zan? Ive always heard there was and was mentioned that they made them quite some time ago but never have seen anyone actually get some. Only the originals

The target was a mess as I was using the same target to adjust the dwell and shoot groups. All shots right now are in an indoor range, 100 yards. And pellets used is in the picture above.

Kevin, I have got to admit, I read this post a couple of times and I wasn't sure why, and then it hit me, the implication that the new HPS makes more power than the older standard Evol's can, which may mean that getting a 42cc plenum extension might not be worth it for efficency. Perhaps, I should just get a 27cc? If the valving isn't optimized for it, like the HPS, maybe there would be diminishing returns in my Paradigm. I had thought when Tom posted about the HPS in the plenum extension thread, that the internals were the same as the original Evol/Paradigm but if it's capable of more power than wouldn't the porting have to be different too? Just wondering if you know anything about this, thanks!

I can't comment on whether or not you would have diminishing returns , as I'm not sure. It's possible Tom may know though. I do kno though from talking to Tom that the older models can't make the same power, I do not foresee the older evols being able to push something like the 56gr zans at 105 fpe, the Slayer style balanced valve the new hps uses is entirely different than what we've got now and so isn't everything else inside that block below the charging handle.

To be fair I've thought about this too, I'd like to get the plenum for the paradigm and was thinking the middle of the road myself if I do get one.

I can tell you something that I am 100% going to get though, the new hst system.

Tom stated that adding the plenum would increase power and keep the same shot count, so if you could add one, turn the reg down, maintain speed, youd increase the shot count?

by adding a plenum i can see inceasing the efficiency thus the power increase but your are also sacrificing you air storage volume. so just how much would th shot count increase?
i would assume the best benifit would be pushing a heavier ball of lead?

In theory, you'd only loose the physical air volume that the new extender takes up. Increasing or decreasing efficiency depends on how you have it tuned with the new extension. For example, with the original Evol's, it allows for a bigger initial volume blast of air for a shorter duration. This volume would move the pellet quicker as fast or faster than my Evol does now, which uses more air to get the speeds up.

Pumacarl, I don't think that Tom's original porting will be a hinderance to the volume of airflow offered by the new plenum extensions. He is one of the first manufacturers that I have seen to actually cut his transfer ports to optimize air flow.

Last day at the range before the match on Sunday. Was able to get a nice tune for the JTS and the JSB 44.8 pellets. Pushing the jsb at 900 fps, with an SD of 3....the JTS are shoting a little slower and produced a little larger grouping.

I needed data at 25, 50, 75, and a 100 yards. Was able to put 3 shots in the group at each yardage. The bottom two shots are from me adjusting the scope. Still shooting a little high, but with the colder weather I am expecting the weather to cause the rounds to impact lower.

Over all REALLY impressed with the rifle, and the ease of adjusting the settings.



Now the next item is to get a slug barrel for the Paradigm, and start testing again! Lol

A quick measure and the group is 0.80" center to center. I feel I couldn't squeeze that down a little more, but for shooting steel that is plenty good. The 100 yard target at the match is a 3" steel plate. So the gun will have no issues with that.
