Woodchucks can be a huge problem but they are not hard to keep in check. Some fool, a total idiot or group of idiots, thought that it would be a good idea to re-introduce rabbits into NH like they did with turkeys. In less than 2 years they are already all over the place, and they dig, and destroy, and for what? To provide food for predators that we don't want either? Madness.

when I was young we would see a rabbit or two around here but if you want to can or freeze rabbit you need to get out and hunt em. now they are a pest a major destructive pest they cut down young transplants so if you put out 10,000 or 20,000 saplings to have ready to salein the fall the little fuzz buckets can take out a boat load then there the irrigation the walk down row chew a hole walk chew and its a daily issue and it costs to keep those daily repairs up.
I am to a point if it has fuzz, it needs to DIE!

I wish it were funny, or a recreational opportunity, but it is actually a prelude to a nightmare. People, especially with all the "animal lovers" not allowing any kind of control, are going to have NH looking like Australia in no time. They are the ground based equivalent to Starlings, there is just no controlling them after a while.

The problem people don’t want to face is that when you reintroduce things like rabbits you have to balance it with the correct amount of predators which of course brings its own issues…. My guess is NH is short a few thousand bobcats to manage the bunny explosion.

It's funny you say that about bobcats, because I see them quite often now, when just a few years ago they were almost never seen by anyone. So we have had an explosion of those too. Our Fish&Game Dept. tried to open a season on them too and the people revolted, and made them drop the season. I like seeing them, and since they now have plenty of rabbits to chase, I don't have a problem with the bobcats at all. Happy hunting.

A little update, since I have been shooting at 197y recently, I've noticed a few things to pass on. I have been going back and forth between the JSB .216 20.83gr @ 980fps, and the ZAN .217 23gr @ 925fps. The JSB B.C. is listed at .088, but to get it to match what it is actually shooting, I had to change the B.C. value to .07 in Strelok. I know, I know, different atmospheric conditions, elevation, humidity, ....yada yada yada, BUT, the B.C. for the ZAN is listed as .075 and it matches perfectly. From what I am seeing, the ZAN clearly has a better B.C. than the JSB. The drop is one mil more at 197y but it seems they fly better and it is easier to score hits in light winds.

Because of projectile speeds and energy and carry, as I actually observe it, I will be shooting the ZAN over 150y for plinking and any critter bigger than a squirrel, at all ranges. I will still be shooting the JSB for all plinking under 150y and small, fur and feather, pests. The hollow point on the JSB K.O. is great for the small stuff but it is lousy on the bigger critters, even with good hits at good power. I'm not getting into the details of that discovery, but it's a lesson learned. I have a .30 for a reason, this .22 was supposed to be just a plinker and a squirrel gun, and that is what it will be doing. I don't even hunt squirrel, but my state recently made a new law for airguns that you have to use .22 for some ignorant reason, so, double duty if need be.

This gun is a blast to shoot though. I've got my chamber smooth, so it loads like butter, and the 0dB 110 does its job so well, and there is no reg creep at all, no poi shifts, no flyers, just fun. It is my favorite airgun to just get behind and shoot. As for caliber, and a one-gun scenario, I am reverting back to my beloved .25. While a 75fpe .22 could conceivably do everything that I want, that kind of power is a pain to get out of a .22 and easy for a .25. Not only that, but a .25 is a lot easier to see flying too. I love this gun, but I'm still a .25 guy.

I really love .25 a lot too. I went with .30 with the EQ because I wanted to push past 100fpe for coyotes. Eventually I want to start calling them during the day and not just at night… the plenum for the Barra should be here next week and I’m gonna through that it and move up to 34&35gr slugs at 950-970fps and call it a day. Gonna treat the barra like an airgun version of a 17hmr… light, very fast, very flat.

Yes sir I’m with you. I absolutely love my barra. It’s the only gun I have that I won’t consider selling. I know this because someone asked me last week, right after I told him I bought the EQ haha! I told him I couldn’t do it but if he bought one I would gladly set it up for him exactly like mine. He’s an older gentleman so it would be awesome to do. I’ve showed him some scope cam footage and his eyes get like saucers.

Before getting the EQ I seriously considered the DRS Tactical lol if only because it’s a shorter “deluxe” version of the Barra. But honestly it was talking on the phone to a dude at Utah Airguns that turned me off. What he was saying the gun could do vs what the promotional stuff said didn’t match. Honestly I suspect he just didn’t really know what he was talking about… but then again I’m like “you work for Utah Airguns how do you not know everything FX?” I mean this with no disrespect at all cuz I love what they do for the airgun world over all but if they changed their name to FX Airguns Utah nobody would bat an eyelash lol.

I’m still thinking I want a semi-auto. If only for the novelty factor. Maybe an SLS depending on how much I like the EQ… or maybe I’ll cut down to 2 meals a day for awhile and get a Taipan Slash. The super early models have been rough from what I’ve seen but considering Taipan’s reputation by the time I make enough money selling feet pics they should have it sorted out. But also I’m strangely into Taipan in general. Even though I’ve never even seen one in person.

Taipan holds a fascination with me as well, simply because it has the singular distinction of being one of the most trouble free airguns, amongst a bevy of other expensive, and often problematic, airguns, that anyone can just buy, excluding the custom market or Olympic 10m guns. I have never seen one in person either. I love shooting semiautos, but I don't welcome the complexity of the design, and the tolerances needed to be maintained, for them to keep funtioning in field conditions. Yeah, everything manages to make a match just fine, or a day of shooting, but long term? I will not be an early adopter for any semiauto airgun. I just don't need it. Some do seem to be doing great now but I am still not a fan of shooting through the magazine. Ultimately, I care way more about accuracy on the first shot than the availability of a quick second shot. That could change, boredom is tough to combat, and takes an ever increasing range of tools and toys to keep at bay.

Yeah so I pretty much agree with all of that except shooting through the magazine. I really don’t like single loading haha.

I’ve seen a breakdown of the Taipan slash and it’s quite simple. It has a couple quirks but it has a completely hammerless design. To install the max power kit you have to change a piece or two on the valve itself but that was shockingly simple. Just one part of it they were like “be really careful with this rod” so there is a delicate piece but that’s fine to me…

I’ve been following a thread on AGN about it and yeah there have been issues but taipan is on it… a couple of guys have been receive correspondence from the owner/ceo/big boss directly. So I have no doubt they will get fixed.

But interestingly is that even taipan themselves have been saying it’s not meant to shot faster than 1 shot per second. It is not a mag-dumper. They seem pretty insistent that it’s a precision rifle that happens to be semi auto… plus a pneumatically actuated trigger.

On a side note the karma Sls has gotten surprisingly good reviews. For accuracy in particular. I’m not sure how many have actually been sold but it’s not that easy to find a used one. Looks like people are holding onto them which is a good sign. Same goes for the 250z. Check the used gun adds on AGN, eBay, bakerguns and a few others every week just for fun. I’m poor and like to window shop okay haha. And for as many units as the 250z has sold it’s wild how few have shown up on the secondary market so far.

Me personally, I don't like it. The gun is what the gun is. I don't need something fake to make it look like something it's not.

If the plenum drastically lowers the reg valve in a way that makes it susceptible to bumping or snagging damage, then a small protective cover that still leaves access for an allen key will be perfect.
