It was a TON of work and it doesn’t come free. It costs money and the ASA needs our annual subscriptions so that it can fight for our interests anywhere and everywhere across the USA.

“Our ultimate goal with the ASA from the start was to evolve into a voice for the airgun industry,” explains ASA President and CEO Ed Schultz.

“The ASA can provide a leadership role, amplifying our many member voices into a single more powerful body that will help protect and grow the airgun community.”

And the more members the ASA has, the louder that voice can be.

Would love to see bench rest and PRS in GA. There is a field target club and I used to go there and will go back this fall. Other than that there is nothing local public or private I have found. My property will not support to many people, but I can go out to 150 for practice.

I would appreciate recieving the benefit of those HAM points. I wonder how many of us, such as myself, would probably not have elected to join the ASA without those points thrown in? Orv.

One of the things we're working on is expanding both benchrest and PRS. How far are you from Anniston, AL and Talladega? There's a possibility of a 100 yard event there in the spring.

We're looking at ways to expand the sport. Do you have a CMP member club in your area? Here's the link to search by your zip code: Find a Club Near You - Civilian Marksmanship Program

A PRS style event is also something we're working on. Would you be interested in shooting a course that's only 50 yards long and limits guns to 20 fpe?

Hi Ed,

I could make Alabama work for a match. I live on the other side of Atlanta so 3-4 hours min travel. I have looked at the CMP, but other than driving to AL noting local. My gun club used to host matches and just never bought a grand for it. Definitely no air powered stuff here and last NRL22 was 3 years ago.

I would be there for benchrest and could reconfigure a rifle to 20 fpe. I have been looking at a PCP in .177 or .22 that is really good at sub 20 for the local FT club. Have springers all set up for HFT/FT just no PCP.

Let me know the details about spring and I have at least one guy that will come with me maybe more.

Georgia Boys holds benchrest, big bore and FT events in Southern GA. It’s at Jessup, north of the Florida state line. They get a decent turnout.

I have seen that and It is really far away. Definitely an over night stay as it is 4.5 hours with no traffic. There is Arena as well in Blakely for long distance shooting. Would love to see something with in 2 hours of Atlanta. My current gun club is not interested in hosting air rifles. They do mostly trap and 3 stand. The rifle range is 400 and there is a 50 yard rimfire they don’t use much. We do a member only 1000 yard match on a members farm.

I'm looking for a good reason for the ASA. Not being a b-hole but join an organization to protect your shooting right seems very justified but we already have the NRA (yes member). The first time I saw ASA was a number of years back at RMAC. Back then the group was going to promote events and be the lord of the rules. Lord of the rules seems like a good thing since the big events have turned into an arms race for airgun technology. Could be that a few more rules wouldn't be terrible, but once you start nobody stops at a few and you end up with an organization that chokes the fun out of the competition. So before I go and put money on this can I get an idea of what is being worked on and why?
