Ghost Ghost HP plenum size ????

I believe the frustration lies in the fact that BRK doesn’t state what the twist rate is for their slug barrels. Several people have stated that they are 1:30, which most shooters would not consider to be a “true” slug barrel. But, Tony kind of hints at that in the slug video. He states that they don’t believe a faster twist rate or no choke produce the best slug barrel. That would lead me to believe that the BRK barrel has a slight choke and a slower twist rate. Conjecture on my part. In the BRK Ghost FB group, the general consensus is that the slug barrels are less than desirable.

I have an OEM Ghost barrel in .22 that has a 1:30 twist. It is an exceptional heavy pellet shooter. And a very poor slug shooter.
That aligns with other barrels I've tested with similar slow twist rates.
The slowest barrel twist rate that I've tested that shot slugs well was a 1:22. And even at 1:22 it can't stabilize the heavier ( .22/35+ grain) slugs.

As for the earlier comments on plenum volume and refresh, etc, I can hear the plenum refresh after each shot from the .22 Ghost HP when running 50+ fpe. It's quick though, about like a human taking a quick inward breath. Only situation I could see someone trying to shoot faster than the refresh rate would be in a timed speed event. At one point I was told the Ghost plenum was 35-40ccs, not positive, but 38ccs is sticking out in my mind.

As for my experimentation with reducing the plenum volume of the Black Wolf, that's just me experimenting. The BW plenum size is just fine for what Daystate designed the gun for, which was the market (ie a bunch of airgunners) clamoring that they wanted more power.

Not much talk about the slugs barrels in the BRK Ghost FB group, since most members are British sub-12 shooters (y) 🙃 :) I am in there as an Admin and I shoot the slug barrel in .177 HP with very great results (y)🎯 👻
I agree there’s not much posted in the group. The few non-admins posting stated that they were struggling to find the accuracy with the slug barrels. You have the most posts, but being a member of the ART team it’s not a fair comparison to what the everyday shooter might experience. That’s not meant as an offensive remark. For some reason you are one of the only members of the group that posts their tangible results- groups. One shooter took months to say he was finally getting promising results - 1.5 plus MOA at 50yds. It’s possible that I saw the negative posts in another group.

Thats a good idea.... I honestly keep forgetting about those!
And @Woogie_man see if you can return the barrel if it ends up being a dud with slugs?! Money is money, but i'd hate to (see you) spend it and its no good. I have no issue putting in the time (and slugs) getting it to work, but if you try everything within reason, its nice to know your not stuck with it. Saw a thread on AGN from a guy in that exact situation and AOA honored the warranty. Good on them!👍

Went to call back to AOA to get them some money...... and they are closed! Dang it, so I will have to wait until Friday I am sure. But it sounds like they have a few of the BRK branded 1:16.6 barrels in stock. So hopefully it will get here quick and I can start testing.

Hoping to get the ghost to shoot great with the slugs, then I am thinking of putting the DNT Hydra 635R on top . This should be an actual ghost to critters!

Ok just placed the order with AOA, and cashed in some of the HAM points. Now I need to wait to have them applied and I will have a barrel shipped to me :D
Sweet, very excited how it all works out for you, will be watching intently for your results! The twist rate is interesting, I know of the 1:15.9 and the 1:17.7 from L.W.....1:16.6 is about right in the middle. FX slugs liners for there slugs are 1:16 in .22, I believe so that should work well🤩
