Air Venturi MicroStrike PCP Air Pistol/Carbine First Look

A first example of the Air Venturi MicroStrike PCP air pistol/carbine has just arrived at the HAM offices. So this gives us the chance to take a first detailed look at this very interesting gun.

As Hard Air Magazine readers will recall, I was able to shoot the MicroStrike for the first time at the 2025 Pyramyd AIR Cup back in September. But now I can play – er, I mean undertake serious, yet informal testing – as background for the comprehensive HAM test review which will come soon

I like this type of compact pistol/carbine PCP airgun very much. Sure, I’ll never use it as a pistol as I’m the world’s worst pistol shot. But the collapsible stock design makes the gun super-compact to carry and space-efficient to store.

My sort of airgun shooting is “happy plinking” out to 20 or 25 Yards range. So the combination of easy handling combined with light weight, plus “enough” power, decent accuracy and an useful shot count is ideal for my own personal fun.

I suspect it may be ideal for many other airgunners, too…

These characteristics can also make it a lot of fun for all the family – under supervision, where appropriate, of course.

The Air Venturi MicroStrike PCP air pistol/carbine is equipped with open sights. However I removed the rear one to allow for a scope to be mounted. The combination of the MicroStrike with a Leapers UTG 3-12 x 44 SWAT scope might seem unusual, but – so far – it’s working well for me.

One initial thought is that – in the absence of an adjustable cheekpiece or adjustable, I would probably prefer to mount the scope a little higher. That would give a better fit into my shoulder. (You can see this is some of the photographs).

But – overall – the gun is already shooting well for me.

Another observation is that I would prefer if it if the report were a more backyard-friendly. But, that’s what the 1/2 Inch x 20 thread is for on the muzzle, after all.

The left-mounted sidelever action is easy to use – at least after a few fumbles where I instinctively reached for it on the right side of the gun!

So far, so good…

I like the look of it! I'm all about the pistol carbine myself, and see the attraction, but wouldn't swap my talonP collapsable stock pistol carbine for it.

These types are perfect for backpacking, and behind the seat truck or car carry. This one just needs more"Poof"!

I’m glad it is working for you. I do like the pistol/carbines because of their convenient size. As mentioned by hameditor, I would probably always use the stock too. I need to shoot my TalonP more. I’m still mulling over the slug edition Condor.

I don’t think they are selling the barrel separately. I don’t think they’re selling the rifles through dealers.

What I like about the 4350psi fill is that I don't have to worry about overfilling it, I only fill my bottles to 4200psi anyway. I usually don't fill any airgun over 3600psi, even if they are rated for it. Just because the gun can take it doesn't mean the crappy orings can. I have been seeing a lot of stories lately about bad orings, and had some myself. There should be some oversight or agency that rates oring quality.

I don’t think they are selling the barrel separately. I don’t think they’re selling the rifles through dealers.

Yeah, I haunt their 2 pages for them, and no joy. Would love to find one, in 18 or 24 would be perfect.

So long as the air pressure stays above that of the regulator, the performance (fps) will be the same however much you fill them. The only difference will be in the shot count.

Once pressure falls below the regulator set point, the fps will drop rapidly.

The only awesome unregulated pcp with a low fill pressure that I ever heard about was a MAC1, iirc it only had a 1500psi fill. AirForce guns that don't use a regulator seem to run the best at about a 2800psi fill. The truth is, while not designed for it, any pcp can be made to shoot at any level you'd like, you'll just have very few shots. CO2 is the way to get a lot of steady shots at a lower pressure, not air.

what speeds are they shooting?
you can turn down any regulated gun. it doesnt have to shoot at top speeds.
if you ike running light pellets at 550fps just turn down the reg or if you dont want want it as with many guns pull it out and just fill the gun to 2000 psi if that fits your needs.

but I think once you start shooting regulated guns it will quickly become a go to?

I am nit sure if there are guns out that that cant be turned down but I would very much surprised if there were. look at some of the same guns sold to 12fp shooters?

Well isn't the Maximus the King of the budget low fill 2000psi guns? And like @pan60 said, you can turn regulators way down too. I just mentioned CO2 because it's the easiest.

I’ve seen two reviews so far and they are getting 2 MOA at under 45yds. One of them tried slugs and it looked like he was patterning a turkey gun, he concluded: stick to pellets. I believe my TalopnP is more accurate, but 2 MOA at 45-50yds out of a 10.65” barrel isn’t atrocious. These guns were shot using the factory tune.
