Spring/Piston PLAYING IT SAFE, PLEASE HELP.

I suppose that this isn't a very big deal, yet it is on my TX200 MKlll, .22cal. I've had this wonderful rifle for five and a half years now, having purchased it new from Pyramyd Air. The continuing issue is that the safety fails to engage most of the time. I'll be open as to it's history: after I'd had the rifle for about a year, I decided to install a Vortek PG4 tune. Everything was taken apart and cleaned. Before the tune installation, I properly used moly grease as required. Here came the first problem. While cocking the rifle, things got away from me and parts exploded all over the kitchen table, the floor and under the refrigerator and wherever. The trigger exploded with pins long lost. I packaged it all up and sent it back to Air Venturi. When they could stop laughing, they put it all together for a very reasonable price. All was well until until last fall when the cocking arm failed. Again, Air Venturi repaired it . . . this time they repaired it under their wonderful "life-time" warranty. They even sent me a paid shipping label. It was returned in late July. Yaaa! Now the safety wouldn't engage. Back to Air Venturi again. They quickly did their fix and returned the rifle. Nooo! The safety only worked about half the time and now works only on occasion. I could let this go, but why should I? I've got a $800 rifle with a $600 scope, and I'd like everything to work. What's the problem, other than my wanting my TX200 to be perfect? This shouldn't be such a major problem, but . . . What should I do? I 've been tempted to send this whole thing to a good tuner. I don't know. . . help me friends. Orv.

I feel for you and not going to have much to offer other then if it were mine I would want it right.
if its under warty send it back, but if they can fix it finding someone who can would be my next choice.
maybe talk with them and ask if the issue is the gun needing some replacement parts or is the parts they have faulty or maybe a differant tech do the work than what has in the past?
hope you get it figured out!

Safety issues you say....what's exactly the problem with it? The safety won't engage after cocking it, or the safety engages but won't stop the gun from being fired?

It's hard to believe it's made so many trips back and forth to AV and it didn't get bent or broken yet. Luck has been on your side so far!

It sounds like the safety was not reinstalled properly. Perhaps there is a small part of the safety/trigger assembly missing or not installed properly. Wondering if you could find an exploded parts diagram and at least account for all the parts that are visible when you remove the stock. I would think, AV's legal advisors would want the safety to work right, at least, right?

Well Orv, the “safe” thing to do is to send it back to air Venturi.

Seems to me like you were so close to having things done yourself when you tried to put in that kit that if it was me, I would have to try work on it again. I know that that is probably the highest risk, but I think it has the highest reward too.

@Hoppalong Doc I’m thinking that after sending the rifle in twice for the same issue that has not been repaired, it may be time to that they replace the rifle under the warranty. If they want to continue to fiddle with it, why not let them? Only let them do it as their rifle to sell as a refurb. Perhaps you can request an exchange. You may also want to share your concerns with the possibility of your rifle being damaged in transit having to send it in several times to repair an issue that has not been remedied. Just a suggestion to consider.

Doc I gotta ask, have you ever worked on the TX200 yourself since taking the trigger apart and losing some bits and pieces? The TX is a dream gun to disassemble and service! I would check the lone countersunk bolt that holds the front stock bracket in place. It is usually the culprit when she no longer cocks and sets the trigger. Instead of sliding over the recessed bolt the linkage hits the side of it and prevents any further movement....could be a very simple fix!
As far as the safety goes you will likely need to pull your trigger sears apart & see what gives. Something is simply out of adjustment, damaged, or worn ever so slightly.

I realize that it's taken awhile to get back to you all and I appreciate all your patience, but my good 'ole TX200 is finally back together and working well. In taking it apart i only found a very loose stock bolt and that the stock bracket was extremely loose. I tightened everything, gave a quick lube to the appropriate friction spots, and carefully reassembled thej*of rifle. After shooting it for a while I found that it shoots just as when it was new. Now, I'll fire it over the chronograph and start enjoying my TX200 once and for all! Orv.
