What a great first pcp and welcome to the forum! Mines a 22 and i love it. Enjoy!Just got my first pcp. I chose the barra 250z in .25 cal because I've seen so many great words and posts. Here I would love to know more about my pcp. What should I do to this bad boy. Pyramid did a 10 shot with 25.3 grain airarms field and they were averaging 924fps. Now I don't have a chronograph unfortunately but should I turn the regulator up a tad as to shoot a little heavier pellet or slug. I've been plinking at 30 yards with the fx hybrid 26 grain .250 and the H&N barracuda hunter 27.47 grain and they both seem to shoot decent but I was wondering if the pellets amd slugs closer to 30 grain should be moving faster for better accuracy n power or what? Again im completely new and open to all and any info as I am greatly loving the pcp world so far especially moving up from a gamo power gen 2 .22 cal. Great breakbarrel very accurate at 30 to 40 yards for squirrel and such. But I want some take down power from this barra and a little more distance. Any reference to ammo or tuning reg. Yeah this is undoubtedly the most important thing you can do if you’re gonna do anything besides shoot pellets at factory settings…. When you learn the gun really well you can tune it by sound and groupings but you have to really know it.
I can tune my 250z by sound alone as long as it’s Franco slugs… I cannot do the same with the EQ yet.

So for all of the questions you asked the answer really depends on what you’re shooting and how far. This gun is not slug picky there are more than a few options that will shoot beautifully out of it. Just depends on what you’re looking to do.
For a stock gun I absolutely believe 28-32gr to be the best spot for slugs. Mostly because the gun will push them very fast quite easily, they fill fly very flat and the expansion on small critters is devastating. Also you won’t need to worry too much about wind drift out to about 100y… I’ve shot squirrels out to 125y with 31gr Franco slugs with great success.
The 26gr hybrids are a great choice right now because they are light enough to move well already. You can probably get away with bumping the reg up to 2300/2400psi without having to do anything to the hammer spring. Beyond that I think the hybrids are a little too light.
If you’re gonna shoot targets 36gr H&N HP II’s at around 850 fps will group up nicely all day long.
For mods. There is a 30cc plenum upgrade I recommend as well as a slug power kit and a trigger fix.
But for until you have a chrono I wouldn’t do much. My particular gun did need a bit of a breaking in period though. Or at least it felt a lot snappier after 1-2 thousand slugs though it.
At this point pretty much everyone on this thread is an expert on this gun so no need to weigh my advice any heavier than others. I’m glad you made it over here and I have no doubt you’re gonna have as much fun with this thing as we have.

Ive got the trigger kit and slug kit installed in my 22 250z. I also installed the Mloc tripod on as well. Also using a 6 to 25 with 55mm scope that's shooting great. Also using a Donnyfl Tatsu to keep things quiet. I'm going to get the plenum and cover next and i believe thats it on my rifle. Then I'm just going to enjoy shooting the rifle for years to come!

That’s an excellent set up no doubt about it. A 6-25 scope would be amazing on this thing haha. Really look into the squirrel’s eyes before I whack him haha.

Most scope for your dollar on the Market. Great glass, tight turrets, solid once set stays set. Just a bit heavy but bug scopes are almost always heavy.
