Just got my first pcp. I chose the barra 250z in .25 cal because I've seen so many great words and posts. Here I would love to know more about my pcp. What should I do to this bad boy. Pyramid did a 10 shot with 25.3 grain airarms field and they were averaging 924fps. Now I don't have a chronograph unfortunately but should I turn the regulator up a tad as to shoot a little heavier pellet or slug. I've been plinking at 30 yards with the fx hybrid 26 grain .250 and the H&N barracuda hunter 27.47 grain and they both seem to shoot decent but I was wondering if the pellets amd slugs closer to 30 grain should be moving faster for better accuracy n power or what? Again im completely new and open to all and any info as I am greatly loving the pcp world so far especially moving up from a gamo power gen 2 .22 cal. Great breakbarrel very accurate at 30 to 40 yards for squirrel and such. But I want some take down power from this barra and a little more distance. Any reference to ammo or tuning reg. Or any aftermarket parts that are just a must. Thank you all for any and all help. 🎯🏆💯20250905_165917.webp20250905_180658.webp

@Outdoorclifford welcome to the HAM Community! I am sure you will enjoy your new PCP air rifle and find much support for the 250z from the HAMsters here 😁

Welcome to the forum. We have already had discussions here on whether or not the 250z is a good first pcp, and everything else. It would really help you if you read through the threads before you do anything to the gun so that you understand it all in context and you will be able to ask better questions. I don't know, you might have already.

I have no way of knowing what you have already researched for this gun, or pcp ownership in general, none of us do when a new member shows up. The more you tell us, the better answers you'll get. Since you have never owned a pcp before just know that you always want to keep air in it. Different people have different opinions on how much and why. My short answer is to just fill it to it's limit and you are ready to go the next time you use it. These guns are 3600psi fills.

Learning is half the fun, the shooting is still unbelieveable to me. What a riot you are about to get involved in.

Welcome. Price point 250z nails it. Good shooter and some good modifications available. One of the 3-4 best starter rifles on the market. I think you did very well and will be quite pleased with the 250z.

I believe @Cantona256 is our resident 250z maven and has been tuning his 250z a lot. Take a look through his posts.
Hey thankyou I will most definitely look into his post for sure. 🎯🏆💯

CVLife has started making some very nice hardware in the last year. All at very reasonable prices too.

The Bear family of FFP scopes, BearPower, BearSwift, BearMight are the best bang for your buck on the market. Excellent clear glass and tight turrets. Even after all the tariffs you can get the BearPower 5-25x50 for under $200. Prior to tariffs it was a bit over $100, shipped, off Alibaba.

Their AOE and SFP scopes, like the JackalHowl line, are not bad especially for 30-80 bucks.

Only to your finances
I don’t know about you but I can’t take it with me is how I feel about it sometimes, but other days I’m like @&$? What have I got myself into 🤪.

I told my wife today that I’m not looking at any more Airguns for the rest of the year. She just rolled her eyes and said that I was telling her stories (in her own sweet and loving way, that I cannot print here lol).

I'm safe at the moment. Im out of room in my safes. I have a new safe but it has to be assembled. As long as I dont assemble it I can't buy any more rifles.

Unless of course I throw a ridiculous bid on another gun i have no use for on gunbroker.com and it holds up.

But that is an auction so it doesn't count, right?
