So, Labor Day free shipping at Utah Airguns had me buying some more ammo for my 250z. I foolishly assumed that I would be getting the same thing if I ordered some Zan .217 23gr slugs. I never checked the picture of the box. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package and saw "New Design" on the box. I just about blew a gasket! The original version of these slugs was the first of 12 projectiles that my gun liked, ANY change (from working perfectly) is unwelcome and I feel unwarranted. It would be one thing to make a design change and then call it a Version 2, but still continue on with the original, but to just change it, to me is total b.s.! To be fair, I have not tried them yet, but from past experience I am not expecting them to shoot as good and certainly not better. I will be ecstatic if they just manage to shoot the same. I will follow up with this post once I shoot them. Fingers crossed.

It’s been a while since I read through the trials of different slugs, and I distinctly remember that you were ready to throw in the towel at some point.
Would you refresh my memory of exactly how many you tested?

I gave away the first 11 slugs, they didn't shoot well enough to keep. I ended up with the original Zan and the JSB KO .216 20.83gr, that's it. I see now and can understand your frustration. I hope they will work equally well. How many tins did you purchase?

Just two boxes thankfully. Hopefully they'll work out. The originals flew very nicely out to 200y.
So much has changed for you in regards to long distance shooting with slugs. You were deeply opposed, and now seem swept up in it.

I was opposed to any airgun that shoots over 120fpe to be treated, considered, talked about, like something other than what people consider to be a firearm. I arbitrarily pick 120fpe because that is where I think that firearms start with the .22lr. It's just my opinion and I still hold it. I think big bores are cool and capable but are just another big game sporting arm, comparable to firearms, or even the new hyper crossbows and arrow shooting guns.
When slugs first stated to get popular, airgun barrels didn't have the proper twists or tolerances to even work half of the time, so they were
a wasted effort. I will never forget watching the video where someone asked the owner of FX if he was going to start making slug guns and he said something like, 'no, there is no interest in it, and it would be too hard to get right,' and within a year his company was leading the charge. Everybody and anybody can change their opinion, and should, when they get new information that changes everthing they thought they knew. Or technology catches up.
Slugs work better in lot of ways that I will take advatage of if I can. It would be stupid of me to limit myself for no other reason than my past thoughts on the matter. Stay tuned, I change my mind all the time, but always forward and not backwards.

I dabble with slugs (.22 only) and they work well out of my S510 to 50Y. Minute of starling most of the time, but cant touch the ol 18.13 pellets. Didn't want to jam up the other slug vs pellets at competitions thread @Pumacarl but you were right about the Jsb K0 Mk3 we have only tried the originals (Mk1??) in 4.51 outta my brothers Diana Magnum springer @ 920ish fps, and I have tried the 25gr KO slugs in 2 guns, not good expansion. What surprises me is Jsb has these light high-expanding 10gr sluggies, but have not updated the .22 line up yet? You would think .22 is the caliber to showcase for slugs? Absolutely terrible performance vs everything else i tested for expansion. What is true for me & Airgunning may change completely 365days from now.....read some of my first posts on Ham and there's already been some change.
One of the reasons I dont stockpile more than a few 1000rounds per gun. The Jsb slug is the second from right in first pic.

Lol, I put the correct pictures in this time, my bad! That was a 23gr H&N i thought was the Jsb....they both expand poorly, lol! Shot out of the Ghost into water jugs probably at 25Y.
Slugs are as follows L to R in first pic: Patriot Javelin, Zan, NSA, 2 H&N HP, Jsb KO, and a Hades. All 23 or 25gr ammo.

The FX hybrids also expand excellently but man o man the cost, lame packaging, and debris on em are all to much negatives to be going back to em. Water jug testing will be happening on them soon too!
The JSB KO .216 20.83gr, are not around any more..

That’s what I thought, but wasn’t sure. AI states that my AEA slugs are flat based, I’m like: no I don’t think so lol.
