What's up with AEA pellet manufacturing consistency?

I recently shot-up my last lot of AEA 18.3s. They were from an order of 5000. The two rifles I run that pellet in both saw extremely excellent shot-to-shot consistency and outstanding accuracy. I received a new order bought recently. I've notices my rifles have not been at the same accuracy level that they normally are with that pellet. I've been trying to find some other reason for the loss of accuracy but can't find a thing with the rifles.

Today I checked zero on my calipers dial and went to measuring the new pellets. I was surprised to find the head size was only .2165" in all the tins from the recent order. I know the older AEA 18s had a head size of .218".

I just today got a tin of JTS 18s and H&N Baracuda 18s . Both those pellets have a head size of .218". I'll test shoot in the morning when there is no wind and see if the rifles tell me anything???

I know there have been threads posted around the various forums showing pics of what appears to be slight change in overall design of the AEA 18s (and some other weights and calibers) but I don't recall anyone mentioning anything about a change in head diameter. Anyone else experience a head diameter change with your AEA 18s?

If the JTS equivalent, or the H&Ns get my rifle(s) back to the accuracy they were shooting with the older AEAs I guess I'll be switching away from the AEAs. The AEA's have been my 'go to' in every rifle I have since I first switched off JSBs so I am kinda bummed the AEA manufacturing seems to be showing inconsistency in various lots of pellets.

Any of you folks experience anything similar to what I described while using AEAs?
