What'cha doing air gun related today?

I haven’t tried them in any caliber yet lol. I do know that .30 version in particular is very popular. What speed do you shoot them at?
I shoot them at 920fps. I buy direct from RMR because they are a better deal that way. They are the same, just not packaged as well, and it doesn"t seem to matter. I have loaded mags alternating FX with RMR and shot the same groups.

Anchors Aweigh(in)
Stuck home for a few days, minor right foot surgery. Dr doesn't want me stomping the brake pedal so no driving.

Max 1 was my first choice for modification. But M11 is just too weird and I can't even come up with commercial parts to adapt.

That does leave "what can I !@#$% with next" and I have a couple guns just crying out to be !@#$% with next.

Got some parts inbound. Barrels and *stuff* going to see if i can make my Boss shoot slugs. Appears the STX *liners* aren't quite compatible with ST barrel so ill diddle around and see what I can figure out. May need to pull in a favor with one of my vendors for a bit of CNC or lathe work.

Thinking about a BAP ( big ... plenum) for the HM1000x. Need to pull the barrel to spin the U adapter on.

BAP 😂😂😂

Okay so yesterday I had some time to waste because I was on puppy duty all day haha.

So I went through the process of filling, adjusting the reg and then dry firing until my finger hurts haha. Repeat ad nauseam 😂… after a few rounds of this I even did something “weird” by depleting the tank to about 32000psi, putting it in the case and letting sit in the garage for a few hours to “bake.” I just have a feeling that the reg lube is crap maybe? Or maybe she’s just a warm weather gal like my 250z?

Anyways after that I filled it and ran a few 52gr Patriot javelins through and was disappointed to see that they were only doing 870fps or so… So I tapped the reg again and did the dry fire thing again and it was still only doing like 870fps. I took the buttplate off which is almost essential to adjust the HS. Probably the most annoying thing about this gun.. I have it a few clicks, it has a clicker wheel with each click representing a tiny amount of adjustment. This is a really good feature as if you can count you can dial your HS to the exact click. I wasn’t barefoot and one hand was holding the gun so I lost count after 5 haha.

A handful of clicks and I was at 890. A few more then 905fps and finally I settled when I shot 3 in a row between 910fps and 911fps! The HS on this one thing is beefy AF so a little goes a long way. I would reckon that I’m about 4-5% in on it right now. I put a rough zero on it and then tested the 45gr Franco’s. Surprisingly they were only doing 945-950fps.

I got everything all ready and went out this morning to go and try call coyotes at a spot I’ve called them in before. It’s an hour drive and I wanted to get there before sunrise but missed that by about 15 minutes. Not that it mattered because I got there and realized I left the caller on the counter of my GF’s kitchen. That sucked. But it sure was pretty! I also shot a jackrabbit with almost 96FPE. He hit the deck pretty hard.

I’m slowly inching my way upward because this gun is screaming to me that she wants to fling a big fat slug lol. The 52gr Patriot javelins work really well. My favorite feature of the Zulus is the 20+ zero profiles I can save so while setting a rough 75y(78y in truth) zero I hit three shots in less than a quarter. In a light crosswind, using a ziplock bag full off rice propped on the edge of my car window as a rest. While fine tuning the zero I hit four more shots that went through 2 holes total. That’s not skill. Just a solid steel barrel and a 700 pound hog of a reg that won’t move an inch if she don’t have to haha.

It’s not perfect by any means but this gun might be getting slept on because it’s in the AEA family. I’ve never shot anything nicer than a .22 cal Daystate so I can’t compare to an Fx for example, but yeah this thing is no joke. Until now the best accuracy I’ve had has been with 50.2gr pellets and they weren’t even the AEA’s which I hear this gun was literally made to shoot. They have a 66gr pellet that I’m gonna end up trying at some point. They have an interesting shape and shallow base to the point I’ve seen a few people call them “Plugs” or “pel-lugs.”

If you really like FPE and are looking for a gun that will launch a 78gr griffin like a boss, this is probably a good option. Especially if you don’t wanna lug around a 25 foot long Gauntlet. This Karma probably weighs as much as the G30 but it’s a lot easier to manage in a bullpup IMO.

I believe it will. I’m glad to hear that you put your pellet order 👍.
PA just sent me an email and said that my pellet order was shipped today so that’s good.
So today, after already ordering 6 tins of various JTS .22 pellets, I bought all 7 tins of the Crosman .22s that where left this morning at Walmart. $5.99 is a good price. Especially when I'm just shooting steal targets. They only have a couple .177 Crosman tins left. They selling 40-60 tins of Crosmans a week?
Who is buying these things? I should be meeting them.

I haven’t tried any of the new ones yet, none of my airguns liked the old ones even for plinking lol.

It would be nice to know you had some neighbors nearby that like to shoot Airguns, right?

I feel the exact same way…. I know there are other Airgunners in my area but idk who they are.
Think about that. It's so awesome that you don't know. None of my neighbors know that I have been shooting about 15k pellets ever year for the past 8 years either. It's great, nobody complains about what they don't know about. I plan to keep it that way. That's why I don't shoot steel either.

Yes I agree with all of that but I want more people to talk about airguns with! And possibly new hunting spots haha.

I live about 1 mile from the local rifle range and go almost every week with regular firearms. I know almost all the regulars and only one person there shoots an airgun and he does not live close to me. I'm trying to get more people interested but most just want to shoot standard firearms.
I just met a very nice gentleman a couple weeks ago, but again he is about 30 miles away through bad traffic.

Laid out this rabbit near my vegetable garden tonight. Body shot behind vitals as he was about to run, he flopped over...but then stood back up again, a quick head shot and lights out.
Humidity is finally gone and so was the wind, I bailed on what I was gonna do (chores😆) and got the shooting table out. Zero checked the S510 @40Y with the 16gr pellets and then shot the TX a ton, made some ok groups but each had a horrid flier or two....gonna clean barrel soon im thinking....and work on my hold, getting rusty?!

Quick follow up 👍. I was tempted when UA had that sale on Airforce, but the whole single shot thing is a dealbreaker for me, for this type of application anyway. Target shooting, single shot is fine.

I would say clean the barrel and see how it looks.

I was of exactly the same opinion. Then I got a $100 Talon. It surprised me how quickly I acclimated to the single shot.

Then I found trajectron.com and fell down a whole new rabbit hole.

As a kid I'd always grab my springer, load it in the house, toss a few pellets in a pocket and run out after the pest. Follow up shots were mighty quick, esp since it was my only pellet gun. But I sure won't say no to a 10 round mag when pesting either! My last target rich scenario (starlings in a mulberry tree) I actually was single loading my S510 as there were so many birds, filling a mag was a waste of time and if u miss them flying in you'd have difficulty spotting em in the tree.
