Okay so yesterday I had some time to waste because I was on puppy duty all day haha.
So I went through the process of filling, adjusting the reg and then dry firing until my finger hurts haha. Repeat ad nauseam

… after a few rounds of this I even did something “weird” by depleting the tank to about 32000psi, putting it in the case and letting sit in the garage for a few hours to “bake.” I just have a feeling that the reg lube is crap maybe? Or maybe she’s just a warm weather gal like my 250z?
Anyways after that I filled it and ran a few 52gr Patriot javelins through and was disappointed to see that they were only doing 870fps or so… So I tapped the reg again and did the dry fire thing again and it was still only doing like 870fps. I took the buttplate off which is almost essential to adjust the HS. Probably the most annoying thing about this gun.. I have it a few clicks, it has a clicker wheel with each click representing a tiny amount of adjustment. This is a really good feature as if you can count you can dial your HS to the exact click. I wasn’t barefoot and one hand was holding the gun so I lost count after 5 haha.
A handful of clicks and I was at 890. A few more then 905fps and finally I settled when I shot 3 in a row between 910fps and 911fps! The HS on this one thing is beefy AF so a little goes a long way. I would reckon that I’m about 4-5% in on it right now. I put a rough zero on it and then tested the 45gr Franco’s. Surprisingly they were only doing 945-950fps.
I got everything all ready and went out this morning to go and try call coyotes at a spot I’ve called them in before. It’s an hour drive and I wanted to get there before sunrise but missed that by about 15 minutes. Not that it mattered because I got there and realized I left the caller on the counter of my GF’s kitchen. That sucked. But it sure was pretty! I also shot a jackrabbit with almost 96FPE. He hit the deck pretty hard.
I’m slowly inching my way upward because this gun is screaming to me that she wants to fling a big fat slug lol. The 52gr Patriot javelins work really well. My favorite feature of the Zulus is the 20+ zero profiles I can save so while setting a rough 75y(78y in truth) zero I hit three shots in less than a quarter. In a light crosswind, using a ziplock bag full off rice propped on the edge of my car window as a rest. While fine tuning the zero I hit four more shots that went through 2 holes total. That’s not skill. Just a solid steel barrel and a 700 pound hog of a reg that won’t move an inch if she don’t have to haha.
It’s not perfect by any means but this gun might be getting slept on because it’s in the AEA family. I’ve never shot anything nicer than a .22 cal Daystate so I can’t compare to an Fx for example, but yeah this thing is no joke. Until now the best accuracy I’ve had has been with 50.2gr pellets and they weren’t even the AEA’s which I hear this gun was literally made to shoot. They have a 66gr pellet that I’m gonna end up trying at some point. They have an interesting shape and shallow base to the point I’ve seen a few people call them “Plugs” or “pel-lugs.”
If you really like FPE and are looking for a gun that will launch a 78gr griffin like a boss, this is probably a good option. Especially if you don’t wanna lug around a 25 foot long Gauntlet. This Karma probably weighs as much as the G30 but it’s a lot easier to manage in a bullpup IMO.
