2025 is the Diana 135 year anniversary. Yes, the company was founded as far back as 1890 as Mayer & Grammelspacher GmbH. That’s the names of the two original founders. Their first air pistol was produced in 1892, followed by the company’s first break barrel air rifle in 1895.
Founded and headquartered for many years in Rastatt in the state of Baden, Western Germany – actually almost in France – the company became part of the German Sport Guns group in 2014. The factory moved to a sparkling new facility in Ense (somewhat further North in Germany) soon afterwards.
During the course of that time, Diana has attracted – and held – many dedicated customers for its products. For example, HAM reviewer Doug Wall has owned a Diana Model 27S since 1974. Both he and the gun are still shooting well!
As for quality, Doug commented about his 50-year-old Model 27S: “Over the years, this gun has had very few problems. At one point, many years ago, I did upgrade from a leather seal to a synthetic seal, and put in a new OEM (or equivalent) spring at the same time. The typical regimen of lubricants has been renewed a couple of times. That’s all!”
In spite of many changes over the years, the Diana name remains synonymous with high quality, German-manufactured breakbarrel spring/piston air rifles.
So, in commemoration of the Diana 135 year anniversary, there’s a limited Panther 350 Magnum Anniversary Edition. Production has just started, so it will be available in stores fairly soon. Hard Air Magazine will update you on US availability when it occurs…
Available in custom grey/black or green/black stock colorways, the Panther 350 sticks to tradition by being manufactured in .177 and .22 calibers.
Moving with the times, Diana has expanded its product range to include PCP air rifles and a value-priced “Action Line”.
However, the famous sidelever-cocking springer range is still represented by the Diana 54 AirKing Pro. This HAM Gold Award-winner is still in production and available world-wide.
Another long-term specialist type for Diana has been the round ball-shooting gallery gun. HAM tested the Oktoberfestgewehr model earlier in 2025. Of course there’s limits to the accuracy to be expected from this BB-shooter, but it still offers a ton of fun if approached with appropriate expectations.
To explore the current product range, I suggest checking-out the 2025 Diana catalog. It’s available here as a .PDF file and you can download it to your computer for reference.
Oh, and don’t forget that classic 54 AirKing Pro! Owning one would be a great way to celebrate the Diana 135 year anniversary…
