Others Who's shooting Polymags?!

Hey Hamsters! Shot my 8gr .177 polymags today and was pleasantly surprises with them, for accuracy and expansion. They come in the cutest little tin along with a bit of hype but they definitely were accurate out of my TX200. Compared to my .22 H&N Hornets the plastic tips gets destroyed on impact and aids in expanding the remaining hollow point. The plastic jug stopped everything, and unlike what the tin states, the polymags penetrated the least. Shot @30Y away the AA 8.44gr pellet went right into the top mark, the 2 middle hits were the polys, and the bottom 2 were CPHP. Both went high I'd guess bc both are lighter than the AA. Bought them for some pesting uses....I know these are sold from .177 all the way up to .357, anyone else shooting them and loving them?!

I shot some out of the condor .25 at a 1000 fps. They’re ok at 25 but passed that it’s squirrely. The Leshiy classic in .25 likes them. The most memorable shot was a lizard on the wall in the back yard. The impact was loud enough to make me pack up and go inside

@Danman I have shot them in a few guns and went right back to domed pellets after shooting a good sized fox squirrel below the ear at a somewhat steep upward angle. When it hit the ground it tried to crawl away for a few seconds before expiring.I was shooting Polymag shorts in .22 that day and was not impressed. That may have been the only animal I'ved killed with that pellet

I shot the gamo red fires . Did pretty well but kinda pricy . Gamo sent me 2 complementary tins that were not the same as ones I was getting at Walmart .. different tin stickers but the gamo sent ones were pretty dang nice vs Walmart ones .. more like real live pellets ..lol

Yes I forgot to mention...the pop on the water jug was a fair amount louder vs the AA domes ...the cphp impact was also louder. The expansion was not 'linear' but definitely decent. Expensive vs ordinary domes, but I am impressed with initial accuracy. I feel that (via all my testing) lead pointed pellets = inaccurate, but when the tip is made out of some other material they are usually accurate. I imagine manufacuring process is more time/cost to make em for sure. They were about 30-40% off so I got a tin to try with last order, otherwise a pass for me....$20cdn for 200 .177 pellets...youch.

@Danman I get it. Catching a sale is a great time to buy projectiles to sample them. I bought mine on sale a couple of years ago. I don't think I have shot through a tin of the shorts in .22 since my Prod shoots CPHPs very much to my satisfaction. I have them in at least two other calibers and don't use them. Same with the Hades pellets. As long as I get good penetration, I just don't have a need for the expansion of pellets.

I really think it boils down having spent a couple of years experimenting with various airgun ammo types. Once I find what works, I'm not so concerned with newer projectiles or what's popular. Polymags are said to be accurate within 50 yards in small calibers and I think a buddy of mine was getting good accuracy out to 75 yards in the original .357 Bulldog. If you're enjoying them, that's what matters. I hope you find a specific niche in you repertoire for them. $20 for 200 .177 pellets seems steep.

With the TX it likes a tight fitting pellet, and the crosmans are tightest ive tried.... but weren't the most accurate vs JSB/AA but I'll bet the crosmans I'm shooting are 15yrs old...hmm. I'll keep shooting till they gone.

Agreed! I don't pest with my springers much but I did get 1 squirrel and a few birds with it. Needed a follow up on more than 1....Will try these mainly for 10-30Y on birds eating my and . Def not a cheap paper punching pellet.

Well I slung a few outta the slav, and low and behold the expansion was great at low speeds (550fps ish) as well... That's not usually the norm! 2L pop bottle filled with water @20Y, failed to exit. The tip seem to break out on impact, goes sideways into the hollow point and aids in the expansion. Def very different results vs the H&N Hornets with the metal tips.

For sure, if you look at the damage on the pellet head it's always the triangle shape of the red tip, from it detaching. I recall seeing some testing in gel blocks (YT) and the tip gets left behind in the gel 'wound' tract. I like water jugs too as I feel the plastic somewhat better replicates a skin/fur/feather barrier.... Lol and they are free. Here's what Hornets do vs water jugs. No matter what, the tip always stays intact and sharp! Most 'expanding' pellets I've shot @500ish fps do not expand at all, the polys surprised me.

Ya, I did notice the Walmart gamo red fired the tips were kinda iffy. Looks about right to the tips that fell off or whatever above .

All the red tips are attached and looking good in my tin! I do recall some people, back in the day getting tins with tons on red tips sitting at the bottom.

I think that Southern Gunner was resonsible for more people buying those pellets than Predator International ever was. He was constantly highlighting them in his videos, and once he stopped making videos, I have heard less and less about them. They were comparably expensive and needed a spokesperson or nobody was spending the money just about.

First blood with the Polymags. And first Starling of 2025! It was walking in and out under my spruce trees with a few others. S510 is off reg and getting degassed soon so out came the .177 TX. Was in a hurry and popped my pellet drawer open and the poly tin was sitting on top. 31Y, right through the vitals...DOI. I wouldn't compete with em maybe, but they are still very good!

I shot Polymags in .30cal.
In comparison to .22cal pellets, these are monsters.

I have been looking for catastrophic hits on pest pigeons: glory kills, with pest birds popping, volcano crater size exit wounds, or BPE hits (body parts flying everywhere).


After failing to achieve such glory kills with the .25cal Polymags at 1000fps (56FPE), even at close ranges (15y) — a very nice AGN buddy helped me to a .30cal barrel.
So I set out to try my luck again:


I dialed the .30cal Polymags up to 944fps, for 88FPE.
Surely, this huge piece of lead would do the trick and produce glory kills....


Yet again, both I and the MLS pellet failed, even at 15y ranges. (MLS = most likely to succeed)


So, maybe I need a .35cal Mora?


If you have been able to achieve glory kills on pigeons, DO let me know the specs, plz.

(I know that smaller pest birds like Starlings are glory-kill'able, but in Peru we don't have those black buggers.)

@JungleShooter Maybe a Varmint Knocker slug in .25 would suffice as an effective alternative. They can be purchased on eBay.
