Where the lead drops dead, my new Backstop

Since I purchased my new Taipan I wanted a good backstop for bench rest shooting.

With a lot of space for multiple targets so I can have a longer shooting session and also have the ability to plink.



4x6x1/4 mild steel and 4x4x8 pt.

So you’re probably looking at this and going yeah that will stop the projectile, but how’s that going work for shooting at a target right?

So as you can see, it will work it just needs an extra layer of cardboard for it to be a little bit more defined punch of the paper. Maybe? that’s 10 shots with my Airacuda.

I plan on using magnets to hold some action targets to it as well.

No snow here bud, a high of 76 .

I found them on Amazon, search for MAGXCENE magnets.

Just Florida “sugar sand”. Snow flurries haven’t been seen since 2017 and that would be in north Florida.

I am getting some of those magnets those look far better then the ones I have similar but mine are in plastic and has long as my buddy doesn't shoot one they are okay but they go away when hit LOL

I think they work great for the price. 50 pieces for $14?

Nice backstop!....1/4in steel outta do the trick and then some How far out can you shoot that on the property? My getup is definitely more mobile. If the cardboard trick doesn't work well, you can even just use a box (cardboard or plywood) in front and staple the sheets onto that.

I can shoot my clips . I grant you if I put a new one up with in the first ten shots one will be a wild flyer out of the blue and nail and bend or pop the handles off . See pictures that show my rack clips with the bright yellow " flags" tide on them ..

That's to find them after they got hit and flew off 20 feet away ... Lol

The maximum usable distance for this set up is 156 yards. So as my skills improve, I’ll just keep moving out.

If your hitting 3" at 150 yards in a run of the mill common try that's like 4 foot wide / high and its 1/4 thick so energy lose as you go out ain't a factor .

Like what am I missing on that max distance part ? Maybe I'm brain cramping on this somehow ..

Dan was just asking me how far away I could get to shoot it. Because it’s stationary, I move not the target.

Fl22 that bright florescent fabric tied on to them mags could help find them when knocked off in the yard trash ,/ dirt . That clip flew off like 20 foot but that yellow strip of cloth it was ex to see and find .

Yeah, I’ve seen that fabric on your pictures and wondered if you had it there so you didn’t shoot the clip, makes sense now so you can find it.

Nice. I've been considering doing the same thing. Except that I was going to angle the plate so the pellet deflects downward.

At first loosing the clips handles I'd had plenty of clip body's with no handles . I tried yellow zip ties and something else but some reason that failed to work well.

So I went to thrift store to get a frying pan and seen that bright yellow shirt ( more like blinding me on the rack) . And cut strips and use it .

So far great and now I able to find all my clip handles and repair the clip body's for several reusing .. now I've got more handles then body's ...lol.
