Here’s a video I made on how to install the new brk brocock barrel tensioner kit to the ghost . Simple job and no special tools required

What are your thoughts on the barrel tensioner PLUS the new block that is available?

Handling the new block, it has a barrel clamp within the block......using it and the barrel tensioner is a suspenders AND a belt situation? Or are you seeing benefit to using them together?

I do not have the barrel clamp block fitted at the moment. This is just the tensioner so I wouldn’t know if both together would be an advantage 👍🏻
 
Great job Lee.....I have put 2 of them on so far, one on Barb's 28 inch 22 and 1 on my 23 inch 30 cal. We still need to get out and get them sighted in, but man does it stiffen up the barrel especially on the 28 inch barrel....

Have you guys seen much improvement? Do you have any pre tensioner targets vs post? MountainSports Airgun does a pretty extreme flex on the barrel and there is no point of impact change at 40 yards:

Unfortunately we have not had many dry days over here in the uk for testing. I am on holiday next week so hopefully the weather will allow resume of testing 👍🏻
 
Hello Lee, not fully understanding what I just watched.
It appears to me that when you put the new barrel end piece on and twist it to apply tension, it is basically trying to remove-pull the barrel and thus the breech end grub screw is what is trying to prevent that?
Do we really want to put that type of force on that grub screw?
Shouldn't the 6 grub screw barrel sleeve be tightened down first, so that the tension is applied between it and the barrel end piece? Otherwise what is it doing?
And what is the purpose of the SS insert?

After doing some experiments of my own I found on the 23 inch barrel it was more beneficial to tension the complete length of 23inch barrel and not just the short section from block to thread . On a 28inch barrel due to the extra exposed length I am sure you are correct clamping then adding tension, hope this helps to clear things up a little , yes my method will put some pressure on the rear barrel grub screw but to add tension to a large diameter barrel I found you need to tension the full length 👍🏻

I've got the 28 inch barrel and have installed the tensioning kit. If you clamp down the barrel sleeve with the 6 set screws first, you are trying to compress the carbon fiber tube, which won't tension (I've tried it). There is no graduated tensioning of the carbon fiber tube...the end piece just stops turning immediately (not tight, then tight, dead stop).

So, to apply any form of graduated tension that allows you to tune the barrel harmonics, you have to leave the 6 set screws loose on the sleeve, add tension, then tighten the set screws. And if you want to apply more or less tension on the barrel after testing it at any given tension you initially set it at, you have to loosen the 6 set screws, add more or less tension, and then tighten them again.

The stainless steel insert fills a gap between the front receiver piece and the main receiver, as the 6 set screw sleeve pushes against the front receiver piece as you add tension to the barrel. The gap between the front receiver piece and the main receiver would collapse without it.

Hope that helps. I'm still experimenting with it and learning. And my 28 inch barrel has been no more accurate than my stock 23 inch barrel so far. Although, I'm getting more efficient use of air. I'm getting more shots per fill at any given velocity as compared to my 23 inch barrel.

It’s hard to say of there was any improved accuracy with the tensioner . I believe all the extra add on products are for marginal gains . I need to do more testing at extended ranges to get a true reading , I have not tried the 28inch pipe yet but should be able to drop reg from 175 down to at a guess around 140-150 with similar velocity’s
 
Ya know I'd be way more interested in getting a Ghost or another Alpha/Delta Wolf of some kind if I could be guaranteed that I knew what barrel I was getting. It feels like the barrels have changed over the past few years but no one can say specifically how, definitively state the twist rates, if it's a slug barrel or not. I find it quite frustrating.
After spending at least a year trying to get good accuracy I couldn't get by Alpha Wolf to shoot groups smaller than 4" @ 100 yards out of .25 and .30 barrels.

I wish these tensioners and extra barrel mounts were available before I sold it all off. I always felt the mid-barrel o-ring was causing some funkiness.

I'm shooting the FX/JSB 25.39 at about 960 fps right now. With the reg on 145 BAR and the 23 inch barrel, I was getting just over 4 magazines (44 shots) before I fell off the reg.

With the 28 inch barrel and the reg set at 120 BAR shooting the same pellets and velocity, I'm getting a little over 60 shots. So, there is definitely air efficiency to be gained with the 28 inch barrel over the 23 inch barrel. Just starting to play with the tensioner and barrel harmonics, but so far, I've seen no dramatic improvement in accuracy with the 28 inch barrel.

The barrel situation is at least partly a result of all the research done over the course of the last YEARS.
A good friend put astronomical amounts of time into the Accuracy Research Team (ART) project shooting tens of thousands of projectiles downrange, testing for accuracy and wind resistance. The variations in the barrels he received for comparison, and the number of barrels he tested is staggering.

If in the market for a Daystate/BRK, call AOA and have them verify that the gun going into the box coming to your house has the barrel you want (rifling type, twist rate, etc).
 
That actually makes me happy to hear😊 🤣 I very much want the longer (slug) barrel for mine in .22 but have no interest in all this other gadgetry. I have heard many times on the 24" and 17" barrel to skip it all together. I just want more shots per fill, lower reg pressure, and send some slugs to 150Y accurately! Better accuracy is nice n all but my Ghost is plenty accurate in stock form👍The whole barrel thing is a bit frustrating I agree @ctshooter esp those people that were shelling out for the world record version and thought they were getting 'the' W.R. slow twist pellet barrel but found out later that had a more traditional twist rate version on theirs.
