Ok, so the 15.89-920 that is ~30 ft-lbf....So for that particular set up you dial back the PW to be sub 20 ft-lbf ~ 740 ft/s, then to shoot 100 yard, PW back up (MAX?) to get the 920 ft/s .... got it. When shooting FT sub 20 ft-lbf...how do you keep it sub 20 with each shot or two velocity increasing slightly...do you start out at ~19? ft-lb just to be safe or are you allowed to adj PW to keep it sub 20?

When I'm shooting a sub20fpe match I have the power wheel on MIN and use the JSB .20/13.73 at 795-805. The first couple shots are low fps so I have to burn off some shots in the beginning of the match, usually during the prematch sight-in. I can then shoot the rest of the match without burning any more shots and fps stays right there, or at least close enough to keep the pellet in the kill zone. No power wheel adjustments needed during the match. Longest the gun goes between shots at an ft match is probably 15ish minutes.
For the 29.5ish fpe tune I turn the power wheel to 11 or 12 and use the JSB .20/15.89. This is pellet pesting or long range accuracy. And I even used it at EBR long range high power ft in October and won some money (that's back a few pages in this review).
And finally, MAX on the hammer wheel does the 870-880 with the NSA .20/18.9gr NSA slugs. This is for REALLY stretching it out, or for when I want to feel good about myself at 100 yards.
. But I have used it for a couple of Ben's long range high power field target matches at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club. It's one of very few places that allow slugs in field target. It's been in the top couple of overall scores at each of the matches I've used it for.- Original poster

I have a heavier hammer and the 0.053" wire diameter hammer spring and even the small hammer weight I made. I'm sure I could get the .20/18.9 to 930-940 with some combination of those part s and I've been debating trying it versus continuing to enjoy my current 3 way tune.
Did a quick session in prep for MRD and Beast tunes. ~145 bar reg, MP spring, PW6 177 MRD ~ 930 ft/s ave; 25.8 ftlb; had to take Reg press up to get Beast to ~930 ft/s; settled out at ~160 bar and PW 10 ~31 ftlb.
I can move the patio table to create a 50 yard range…hopefully the weather here will cooperate and I can get in some no wind shooting the next couple days.

Pushed it out to 174 this evening with the .20 slugs...
Need to work on the target situation to really be able to accurately represent what it'll do but this is a cherry picked 9/10.....bout 2.75" wide and 3.25" tall.
Was shooting through some woven wire fence with 2"x4" squares and lots of the shots were hitting the wire and getting deflected right before the cardboard. Too many over, under, and through fences with how I was doing it this evening. I'll revisit it the next chance I get.
If it'll shoot 3 to 3.5inch, 10 shot groups at 174 yards I'll be pretty impressed. Over the last year I've taken lots of shots from the Ghost on pests this far (many of them successful) but this is the first serious attempt at getting groups on paper this far out.
I'm excited to learn from my target placement mishaps this evening and give it a better attempt the next chance I get.

It really is crazy to see how far a good combination of slug to barrel or pellet to barrel can be accurate. And major fun!

Based on how it behaves on the long bomber pest shots and on that one ten shot group on paper yesterday (that mostly snuck between the wire fence), I think it'll do about 3 inches with the ten shot groups at this 175ish range. That's about 1.6-1.7moa, which is about what it averages with ten shot groups at 100. 5 shot groups at 100 average less than moa. But definitely need to do some further shooting to verify the 175yard stuff. Maybe Saturday.
As for one of the boys laying claim to the Ghost, I learned my lesson with different gun there. I'll be hanging onto this one, minimal sharing so they don't take a liking to it too much.

It is choked. Yes I've pushed them through to see and it certainly has a very distinct choke. It's not near as tight as what I would consider a "normal" choke in a LW barrel, but there's no doubt about it when the slug hits that choke, cuz the resistance stops the slug, and then further effort on the rod is required to get it to pop through the choked area.

I've considered a lathe myself but just have too many irons in the fire. Current plan is to buy one in the future when I don't have little kids and would have more time to tinker.

Ballistic Theory - External ballistics question about non wind-induced drift....slugs specifically.
The situation.... Pellets and slugs from the same gun/scope/barrel, at about the same fpe. Scope set up for zero of 60-65 yards with both. Impact points track in a vertical line fairly well until about 80 yards, whereupon the the slugs start to drift to the right. By 100 yards the slugs are...

Went through the mental archives of all the long shots I've made and remembered holding way left on all of them. @Pesty3782 may remember how surprised I was that they were hitting so far right that day we were shooting pdogs early in the .20 slugs experience.
So I posed the question.
I'm not trying to fix anything, it seems to just be part of the situation, like drop/trajectory arc. It's grouping, just to the right of the crosshairs, and that distance right of crosshairs grows with the yardage. I just want to understand the external ballistics behind it.

Thanks. Still not as much as I'm seeing so doesnt seem plausible that it's spin drift. Bob Sterne and Mike Nische (elsewhere) are leaning to scope cant. Which blows my mind considering how this gun has done in various matches and pesting for the last 15 months.
But I'm going to investigate the scope cant thing a bit and of course I'll report on the findings. If it is scope cant, sure hasn't been an issue for the < 100 yard matches I've competed in.
