What'cha doing air gun related today?

Finally got to shoot my pumpkin for the HAM Great Pumpkin Carve! Naturally I used a pump gun (or 4). And in true spirit of the Year of the Pumper, I carved YotP into the pumpkin. 🎃🫡 Was 2 hours of fun in the sun.

Decided to shoot my Falcon FN19 this morning. Haven't fired the Falcon since early Summer when I had 'her' out killin' squirrels!

The Falcon was my first PCP air rifle. I bought the FN19 nearly 35-years ago. It's the last air rifle I would ever consider selling. :)

16gr pellets are not my favorite weight for shooting 50yds. Takes just a puff of wind to move the POI around.

9X magnification makes refining the aim-point impossible, but the old Falcon with it's LW barrel still stacks pellets pretty well!

Fired 5-shots through the Uragan 2 700 .25 this morning.

I really need to load-up my shooting gear and take the U2 out back of the house where I can shoot 100yds. I'm really curious to see if the Altaros slugs will hold at least MOA at 100yds out of the U2???

Note: I typed the wrong weight on the pic below for the Altaros slugs. They are 49.5gr.

Getting yelled at for leaving Elaine to shoot her pumpkin by herself and not telling her to watch the pressure. “There’s something wrong, my shots aren’t hitting where I’m aiming anymore!”. Hmm could be that you’ve just shot 90 pellets, you started at 3600psi, your reg is set at 2100psi and you pressure and reg are both at 1000psi. 🤣😂🤣🎃. Great time to lower the reg to 1600psi, lower the hammer and switch to Jumbo Monsters at 890-900fps. Now it’s my turn. The Benjamin Marauder Gen 3 is such a fun and versatile rifle.

Took the Winchester 1873 out for some 10 meter off-hand fun and practice. Shot at 2 Halloween challenge targets where I did terrible.20261027_164107.webp

The frustrating part is, this is 5 shots at sighter:20261027_163224.webp

So then I did some "nature's KYL" to end my time. Iron sights, Gamo "match" pellets, 3 pumps, off-hand unsupported, and 10 meters for everything.20261027_161258.webp

Was sitting behind the U2 at the bench this morning when I caught movement over the top of my steel backstop. Looked closer and through a light screen of pine limbs I could see an elk walking by..., and then another, and another! Our local elk herd was feeding right behind the house this morning.

Also fired the Daystar on target this morning. Once again, the $300 Daystar showed that it is my most accurate air rifle! I'm sure I got a 1 in 1000 barrel on that rifle as my other Reximex 'long rifle' can't match the accuracy of the Daystar!

This morning we have rain and heavy overcast. I wasn't in a hurry to get away from my coffee cup and get started shooting so I didn't start until about 10:30am.

I fired 75-AEAs though the 250z at 50yds (my usual distance). I fired one group of 25 (lower pic), two groups of 10 and six groups of 5 (upper pic).

Today was one of those days when I felt like I was doing my part as the shooter very well (for me anyway). So, the shots on target that were labeled as 'flyers', were really 'flyers' and not me, or the wind, or any other excuse.

I've tried to tune-out the flyers I get with the AEA 21.9gr through my 250z. While I was successful at minimizing 'flyers', they still exist. No worries, the rifle still has more than adequate accuracy for hunting, which is what I bought it for.

While my 250z isn't a match-grade performer, it has better accuracy than I expected prior to buying it. I don't expect there are many sub-$440 air rifles that will keep 25-consecutive shots inside 1" at 50yds! Maybe I'm wrong???
