What'cha doing air gun related today?

Which ever rifle I am currently hunting with tends to get fired on target more than an average amount. Since I am using my U2 700 .25 now for coyote calling the U2 gets fired a few shots most mornings. Would like to put a few more rounds through it on target but the Altaros slugs are so expensive I just shoot a few to confirm zero, and more importantly, keep my confidence in the rifle while hunting!

If I report a story here on the board where I make a bad shot on a coyote you know it's not the rifle's fault!

I believe that there are hybrids east of the Mississippi that do not always display typical behaver. The ones that have been around my nationhood do not howl ever to my knowledge. When I was stationed in California and Oregon and hunting in the evening, I would hear packs howling as the sun was getting ready to set, when the pack was running to attack something, or if they heard a siren. I have never heard a coyote howl here in Florida in my neighborhood, or when I have been hunting in the management areas, but I have seen several that have been killed in my neighbor's front yard. Maybe it is something they only do in a pack, I am not sure about that. I loved hunting coyotes out west, such a year-round rush.

I’ve seen a lot of coyotes here in Florida both at Camp Blanding and here in the panhandle and like you I’ve never heard them vocalize, never mind howl. I’ve also never seen more than one. Do they generally roam on their own?

Packed max 1, avenge x and sk-19 in 1 padded double rifle bag. Removed all grips, bipods, scopes, ect and gently wrapped in my clothes all fit. A bore scope, (too much) ammo, shooting tripod, bipods, and small pump/filter, tools in a backpack. I'll make targets down there along w the pumpkins
You forgot a pump gun, to pump up the fun. 😉😎

Have a great trip making memories.

This morning we have rain and heavy overcast. I wasn't in a hurry to get away from my coffee cup and get started shooting so I didn't start until about 10:30am.

I fired 75-AEAs though the 250z at 50yds (my usual distance). I fired one group of 25 (lower pic), two groups of 10 and six groups of 5 (upper pic).

Today was one of those days when I felt like I was doing my part as the shooter very well (for me anyway). So, the shots on target that were labeled as 'flyers', were really 'flyers' and not me, or the wind, or any other excuse.

I've tried to tune-out the flyers I get with the AEA 21.9gr through my 250z. While I was successful at minimizing 'flyers', they still exist. No worries, the rifle still has more than adequate accuracy for hunting, which is what I bought it for.

While my 250z isn't a match-grade performer, it has better accuracy than I expected prior to buying it. I don't expect there are many sub-$440 air rifles that will keep 25-consecutive shots inside 1" at 50yds! Maybe I'm wrong???

Very nice shooting. The 250z is a great value

Took the scope off the Winchester 1873 for some relaxing 10 yard can cutting. After that (and throughout) the squirrels were running amuck along the range. So... I delivered a lead nut to one. Can cutting at 2 pumps, squirrel nutting at 5 pumps. Unsupported off-hand, 15 yards with Norma 8.4gr pellet.

Building a free to use target generator. It allows you to create your own target by selecting the number of rings, ring size, which rings are blackened, whether or not there will be crosshairs etc. and it will generate the target and allow you to either print it or download the file. It also has a library of preset targets that are dimensioned to international and U.S. shooting standards. I’ve included 10m, benchrest, U.S. and European field target, .22LR benchrest, sight-in and plinking targets. It will also allow you to upload an image or use a silhouette and make a target out of it. It’s part of a bigger project that I’m working on and is not ready for prime time yet. The bigger project was motivated by the fact that I believe “GunTube” as it’s called is going away. That’s an interesting story in and of itself. When you see why YouTube recently changed its policy on weapon related videos, it becomes obvious where this is going.
IMG_3725.webpThe target generator came about when I was looking for a 10m air rifle target for @wolfmangreg challenge. Here is an example of a 10m air rifle practice target. I’ve blacked out the bottom of the target as it has links to the website that Im building,

Very interesting, Bill...

Well I got to our destination and messed around yesterday. Put the rifles back together, zeroed the scopes and other stuff. Shot a 100 plus between the 3. Right at 9:30 coyotes started howling, I have a night scope but I didn't bring it. I haven't really gone over the electronics and now I wish I had. They surrounded us in the field next to the house at least 4 or 5 so I took the lil princess Aussie inside for the evening. Set up some targets and found my girlfriend to be more accurate than I 🤦😆. First time shooting air rifles. Kids are shooting now and running the pump a lot.

I forgot to clean the barrel on the sk-19 and I think it's a problem. More fun to be had. Tomorrow is the bean festival in mountain view, might go and see a porta potty race, other than that I'm just gonna shoot for the next day and a half with no responsibilities.

How do you like the Winchester Papa? Reading good things so far. Powerful too

I shot and adjusted the scopes on the Vectis and the Talon. Both are .177. I originally put the 4x16 CVLife on the Vectis but had a hard time getting close enough to it so put the 3x18 CVLife which is longer on the Vetis and the 4x16 on the Talon. These are cheap scopes and I just got them for bench shooting the .177s in the backyard so I could see the holes better. For what I am doing the 3x18 is pretty nice. I painted the arms of the Know Your Own Limits target with Rostellum black primer and the paddles yellow. I got the lawn cart at a yard sale for $5. The target fits Infront of my backstop just right, like it was made for it. I shot it at 30 yards with the Vectis and had to adjust the scope a couple of clicks to the right but got them all on the first round. I missed the little 1/4 inch one on the second round. The Vectis really smacks them good with the 13.43gr JSB .177s. Can't wait to see what my Airforce guns will do with it. This thing is fun and I highly recommend it for kids.
