What'cha doing air gun related today?

Last edited:
I’m actually thinking about selling one or two of my Airguns 😱 to get the DRS MKII. Scary part is I already have a name picked out for it 😅.
I keep telling myself that I'm going to sell my Sonoran and buy something else and then I shoot it and think: why? I rarely shoot my Beeman underlever or the TalonP, but I'm a packrat.

I shot the .22 Condor slug barrel today and was very surprised. I have been shooting the .221 slugs to match the groove diameter but have had no luck so I tried the .218 H&N slugs I got today and the 36gr showed some potential and possibly the 38gr as well. Not only did the diameter surprise me but the speed. Seems like they like around 907-870. Apparently, I have been running everything way to fast. I have it on the Escape UL, so I had to keep stopping to fill up. Next time I will just shoot these and play with speeds and different moderator lengths. I will also put the big tank on it so I can get more consistent shots. I also found out that if a smaller top hat was used the 15gr JSB pellets would group well. Maybe someday I will get one. I shot from 30 mostly but tried the 36gr at 50 as well but I struggle with my tiny rear bag to get steady.

Very respectable performance. In my non-scientific opinion, the best advice for shooting slugs is: ignore all of the posts telling you how fast slugs have to be shot to be accurate and just try the different velocities like you would with a new pellet. I proved to myself last night that my .30 Sonoran can shoot 52.2gr slugs doing 850fps at 100yds with excellent accuracy. That's not really what the various online opinions would support. I know you already know that.

Thank you. I only have a 12x scope on that gun, I think I will get a 16X for it and maybe I will do better.

This morning I fired two 5-shot groups with my Uragan2 700, .25. I wanted to prove to myself that the tiny groups I fired with the Altaros 49.5gr from a few days ago were not a 'fluke'.

I have those JTS 43.06gr slugs in at the post office today. I would love to see those 'group' as they are way less expensive than the Altaros. But, having fired probably close to 2-dozen different slugs through the U2 already with none shooting consistently small groups like the Altaros, I have little confidence these cast JTS will match the lathe turned Altaros. I'll shoot them tomorrow and report.

Both groups completely under a dime. But, I fired some even smaller groups with this slug a few days ago!

I need to let go of several that I don’t shoot anymore. I blame my Sniper for that, well my self really. When I damaged the barrel and subsequently replaced it, for better or worse I know that I hit the lottery.

When I shot that 5X5 target at 50y back whenever it was, and every group was MOA or less I have not even topped off with gun with air since. Only pesting one shot one kill.

I am thrilled with its accuracy and paranoid about doing anything else with it lol.

Anyway, now that I have such an accurate Airgun in my midst all the others I have are diminished several to the point that I don’t want to look at them, much less shoot them.

Bill, sorry for using your post as a segue into a small rant.

🤣😂🤣 it’s funny, I’ve enjoyed every airgun that I’ve purchased, until I bought the next one.

Good shooting. I know I’m very guilty of breaking things that work lol.

At 10:49 he talks about shooting 40gr slugs at 1000fps. With the the least expensive version at under $1000, @Solo1 suggestion of the DRS MKII has a lot of merit. One thing not mentioned in the comparison of the Panthera and the Panthera MKII, is the trigger. The MKII has a better trigger and it cannot be retrofitted to the original.

If so, that would definitely be at the top of the list for two reasons - the power and I want a more traditionally styled rifle.
