What'cha doing air gun related today?

Have been having some regulator creep issues on my Avenge X. So after a dinner date with my wife, I tore it all down and replaced the two o-rings and greased them up good and reinstalled everything. Re aired it up and did some dry firing to settle it and we’ll see how it does overnight. It was creeping up a large amount before at least 200-300psi if it was pressurized to 4350. The o-rings were quite flat and hard so I’m hoping with some new ones it’ll solve the issue.
Tomorrow I’m going to head up to my fathers and retune at his range and get some long distance shooting in, out to at least 100yds.
Had it shooting pretty well with the 21.9 AEA and the 22.07 JTS before rebuilding the reg.
Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!

I almost don't want to see the Notos 2 specs after the extra dough I've spent on the Original Money Pit. Speaking of that's all I did today, shoot the Notos. 24 shots w the flip up iron sights. 20 yards out. The gap in the rear sight is wider than stock sights by a good margin, so I'll use that excuse why my shots split side to side more 😆. Had to weed the garden/supports today and boy did that take up my time.

I really can't wait for the buster to arrive so I have something more the size of my crosman 1322 for back yard lawn chair plinking.

This morning I fired Altaros 49.5s through my Uragan 2 700 .25. I had tried them prior with the rifle's tune for H&N 44gr and was not overly impressed. The last couple days I dialed the velocity down (895fps) to where many have reported outstanding results with the 49.5s. I have to admit, I'm shocked how well the U2 groups the Altaros at the corrected velocity!

Some place on this board I recently posted how much I didn't like my Uragan2. I commented that it was my most expensive air rifle, and it was the least accurate. That was true prior to today! Finding the correct slug and velocity for my U2s barrel has me re-thinking my prior thoughts about the Uragan 2 700!

I'm really feeling good today as I have felt for the longest time that the money I spent for the U2 was NOT money well spent!

With all the research I have done on slugs and slug guns I was very suppressed to learn that some gun and slug combinations work best from 700-800 rather than 900-1000. Slugs are a strange thing in airguns.

What have you come up with so far?

90+FPE I would guess for starters.
Yes, 90 plus would be great. Able to turn down when needed. Seems the only rifles that I found appealing and capable are the AirForce Condor Slug barrel (limited time run and no longer available), Air Venturi Avenger XL (out of stock for the foreseeable future), and the FX $$$ rifles.

More like 105fpe. They might shoot better out of a choked Condor barrel, for real. The Airforce .22 barrels have a .221 groove diameter so with a .002, 1-inch choke at the end of the barrel, it should shoot .218 and .219, 32-40gr slugs okay. I shot 40 grain Altaro slugs from the one I used to have. It did pretty well at 30 yards. I don't remember trying it farther because I sold the gun. I might let my Condor .22 slug barrel go in the future, just the barrel, I'm not sure yet, because I have a great source for 38gr 22LR slugs I like to shoot in it. I have been using the TJ .300 barrel in the gun, and I am not really into .22 that much, I like .25s and .30s more. They are easier to load, and I love the power of them but the 38-40 grain .22s hit with authority as well. I really like the way that TJ barrel shoots 50gr JSB pellets and my home made 55 grain semi wadcutter slugs. The TJ .300 barrel would be awesome for racoons and coyotes and brain shooting young hogs. Yes, a Condor has no trouble shooting 55+ grain slugs. Without modifications. The .22 Zelos can shoot slugs well but maybe not that heavy. Part of the problem with Airforce .22s is that. I think it is called the lead in, basically the throat of the barrel is too tight, they are made for pellets, so you end up trying to mash the big slugs into the barrel too much. They need to be opened up some to improved loading. Mr Hollowpoint once said, with Airforce guns, engage the rifling with slugs but do not try to force them in, it doesn't matter if half the slug is sticking out of the barrel it will shoot just fine. That man knows slugs. I have read that some of the best slug barrels have a very slight choke to them. Yep, I have lost my mind. 🤪

The Oring that seals the air tank on the Zelos was leaking so I went to ACE hardware, and they matched it for me $.25 so I got 8 of them. Put some silicon oil on it and put the tank back on. So far so good, has to be the right size or all the pressure would have dumbed instantly. Got my Maple magazine for it today and it fits perfectly; I got it because my originals are super tight. I like the Maple single shot mag as well; it is really tight to install but works well. It is needed for Hornets, Poly Mags, and longer slugs. It will fit a 55-grain solid flat nosed slug.

I would use it for general purpose shooting with more power than my current Sniper XR. So, pests, coyotes and javelina, plinking / targets at further distances. Hopefully, join some competitions in the future.
Seems to me like it’s going to be in something FX I’ve been looking at this myself not necessarily for the FRAGS but FPE for $ spent (on a high quality high power .22).

And right now unless someone can point out something different FX looks the best to me.
