What'cha doing air gun related today?

How you like the Tormenta lite? Not read or heard much at all about it. All I really know is it looks good anyway.
Still liking it when the weather's good enough to go outside. It's a lightweight 20 shot critter gitter for sure. The mags are kind of fidly but I ordered some from Maple to take care of that problem. Keep a moderator on or with the short barrel it sounds like a 22 rimfire! Trigger is nice and crisp as well. Others said their safety didn't work on the rifle but mine works just fine.

Another round of Fall for Pumpers today. Shot my Anniversary Legacy 1000, 10m and then 20 yards. 3-5 pumps. Used a uline catalog like it was a phonebook to see how much it would penetrate, including one shot at max 12 pumps, plus a tin can to see if it would penetrate, and slynger targets. Then shot it about 40 yards to ring my bell.

Session had me feeling good, so took some super slow motion videos including shooting fingernail sized acorn from 10m first try. Topped it off with a can cutting of 7.5oz can in 28 shots.

All done off-hand with factory irons, in 8-20 mph winds. Was the perfect start to the week.
Nice shooting PapaT! Can cutting never gets old.

I’ve been using ChatGPT to help tune rifles. Today I shot a string with two pellets in one recording session with a Labradar. I started with HS flush and shot 3 of each pellets, then increased HS by a half turn and repeat. With my reg pressure the 18.13gr is a 4 turn and FTT are 4.5-5 turns.
I already tuned the rifle on my own before this and it’s exactly where I landed. It’s not rocket science, I just like having fun with GPT. The bigger project I am using it for is springs to try as replacements in my rifles.
I also plinked a little with the pp700sa and leshiy.
What do you input into ChatGPT to get the info?

I would not trust any information AI offers up.
me a few friends decided one night to all ask a few differant ones the same question and we al got differant answer from the differant AI's and the same AI's gave multiple wrong answers.
we ask the same question anagin copy and paste same question and got differant answers all wrong.
on some forums AI answers are not permitted.

persanally I will discourage the use of AI and ask that the AI generated information not be posted.

I think you can research how to tune and ask question here or elsewhere and have a better chance of getting good information.

just my two cents.

I've been figuring out why my Cheif II started opening up last night. Turns out the speed dropped about 15FPS average. I tested out and tuned it back to 750-760 FPS and tightened it back up. This is only 10m, but i put it over a chrony to see what was happening. I shot 5 at each, top row going L-R, then under that R-L. 1-4 were the same HS i had, then i started 1/8 turns

AI isn’t a replacement for anything — it’s just another tool in the toolbox. I use it a lot to help manage my workload, and I can see where it helps and where it falls short. That’s why I don’t think banning it outright makes sense.

With my hammer-spring project, I’m the one gathering all the numbers. AI just helps me look at the data and think through ideas. It gives me a starting point, but I still have to do the actual work and figure things out myself. When it can handle the math for a hobby project, that’s just convenient — not a shortcut.

Same thing at work. I’ve been building a policy/testing project and I didn’t just type, “What’s important?” and call it a day. I gave it pages of background, examples, and all the details it needed. I went off in different directions to find more info and fed that back in. I still built the final product — it just helped me get there faster.

That’s what I tell people: it’s not a magic “fix everything” button. It saves time, but it doesn’t eliminate the work.

Even with my Chief II tune — I had already tuned it the old-fashioned way based on what I learned from other shooters. For the AI run, I gave it the reg pressure and a full chrony string from flush to max, alternating two pellets in the same string so I didn’t have to do two separate tests. It broke it all down and suggested a tune for each pellet… and it basically matched what I already had. And I never told it my previous setup.

So yeah — it’s useful, but only if you put the effort in. It won’t do the job for you.

I completely agree. AI is literally the devil haha. I was just curious as to how one even inputs the relevant information.

Well we'll see if I fixed the air leak from my impact regulator vent hole. I removed the 10x1.5 Oring I had in there. I took some bore cleaning patches and cleaned out the reg bore and installed a new one. Only took about a half hour to do. I dripped a couple of drops of leak detector on the vent hole and there wasn't any bubbles. I think the only reason it didn't show a leak last time I I tried to fix it was there was only around 140 bar in the air tank. 🤞 The second picture shows the dental pick I used.1000016131.webp1000016132.webp1000016133.webp

Between heat and wind just about all i did was set up a card at 10m and adjust the R9's hinge bolt. It was a exciting 10-20 shots . Pretty much moring or afternoon shooting been a bust . So back in the AC sipping tea and trolling forums and gun shopping for a deal that aint there..lol

Shooting my Mordax Venom and Tipan Slash and wondering why a $2400 gun comes wrapped in plastic inside a cardboard box! Guess which one.
