Yeah man that plenum cover may seem cosmetic but the way it secures down over the plenum makes the whole thing feel very sturdy. I wouldn’t feel weird setting the bottom of it on a stump or fence post (carefully!) to shoot from. I was pleasantly surprised.

The machining on the plenum looks good and the install process is a breeze.

What is the performance like with the mod vs without it? Im still thinking about getting a Barra 250z. I can't decide if I would want .22 or .25.

Oh, I can't leave a rifle alone either. Whatever I get will end up being tweaked and modified anyways. Of the 3 air rifles I have, none are stock. Ive got stuff I designed and produced for all of my rifles. If air rifles are the addiction then modifications must be the drug that scratches the itch.

From what Andy when he first added the plenum to the gun he had to drop the reg down to 1900psi to maintain the same speeds he was getting at 2500psi.

No sir it sure doesn’t. You have to expand the hole in the stock to install the plenum. Took me about 10 min with a dremel to do. All free hand. Then you just put the stock back on add the plenum, add the regulator gauge to the bottom of the plenum and voila!

I will say this with 100% respect to @Airgunandy89 … I think he’s underselling and over performing. It looks better than I expected, it feels extremely solid and finally it basically triples the amount of plenum space for the gun. Barra claims 15cc and the plenum I measured myself at 29.57cc so accounting for a less than scientific measuring process let’s call it 30cc. That’s 45cc total. That’s huge.

If you want to stay “low power” at 50fpe that gives you .9cc for every fpe you want to generate. I’d be surprised if you got less than 60-65 shots a fill with the right tune at that level.

For high power there are obviously other factors that could limit the power.. the porting and valve design in particular… Since I’m already almost at 70fpe it probably won’t give me huge power gains but once again the shots per fill should go way up. I forget the formula to count the associated pressure drop but I suspect 400-600psi… I’m thinking a 35gr slug at 950fps for 70fpe and hopefully 40 shots a fill, sounds really nice.

Not the best picture but my baby finally got the plenum mod installed last night. Adds 30cc’s to a gun that only has 15cc from the factory!

Sadly the orings that seal the regulator are busted and I can’t find another one to save my life. So I can’t report on how it shoots yet.

Undoubtedly my worst 24 hours in air gunning.

Turns out I blew my .30 slug budget on a bunch of 71gr slugs that don’t work in my gun.

Spent all day yesterday trying to fix the barra and waiting for those slugs to show up and took a huge “L” for the day.

I did get the right o-rings for the barra ordered on Thursday so whenever that shows up it still won’t matter at all because….

My compressor blew up about 10 min ago.

So yeah one gun in pieces, another with no ammo and no way to fill either of them up.

I make a lot of jokes but I really am a dude with two baby mommas. My child support payments would put me in the “FX with an Element Helix” kinda territory…. But instead a good week is one where I don’t have to donate plasma lol. Not a sob story lol I’m not mad about it just wanted explaining why this sucks so bad haha.

Anyways here’s hoping something crazy cheap pops up on fb marketplace.

And please for the love of everything good in this world someone go shoot a f***ing coyote, record it and post it please. I want to live vicariously through you.

OK… I need some help with a question.
What do you all think that the differences will be between a 6-7 year old RAweapons HX1000 and a new RAW HX1000? .30 cal.
The differences in the stocks are not of consequence to me. What should I watch out for?

I realized the other day when I was shooting off some slugs that where from testing on the 308 Texan that I had no problem hitting any of the targets, 200 plus yards, I have gone Angular Scaling Method (True Distance Simulation)

I got one gun down with a dirty barrel, one apart waiting on a buttstock adapter still, and the last one is still shooting aces.... I guess i can't complain! Man you need a springer.

Saturday: Squirrel this morning at the feeder, taken with my P35 25 cal. WAY WAY WAY overkill. Head shot at 18 yards
I got the CZ200 Hunter out and it was spot on target. I can't stress how satisfying that rifle and my S200 are to shoot.

Sunday. This afternoon another squirrel showed up. After yesterday I knew the CZ200 was ready to go. 12 foot pound 10.3gr Air Arms pellet later, and it’s a dead squirrel.

Nothing in airgunning, to me, is more frustrating than air problems. I really do get it. This is why I have three compressors and three handpumps and parts kits. Yong Hengs are loud and a royal pain in the butt to use, but they fill fast and are easy to work on. I have thought to myself, for years now, that I was going to get a GX or an Air Charger, but I can't bring myself to justify it. The YH just keep working. Get a GX or get into Yong Hengs if you can put up with the noise.

Handpumps can keep a gun topped off if you don't wait and give yourself too much pumping. Not ideal, but it works. When Amazon has a Christmas sale they can go as low as $20. I got eight years of use out of mine before I just had to re-seal it.

I have been having difficulty getting the correct size of fittings for air hoses. They keep sending 10-1's when I ordered bspp, or something like that, sometimes mixed. They are all different, even when ordered from US sources. The same thing for orings. Some of the Chinese guns use orings that have no standard metric or imperial equivalent. What do you do? I buy spares where I can and stockpile little things like fittings with every order of pellets and slugs. It's still maddening, but it is somewhat of a plan. Good luck!
