Others What steel target did you smack today?

I always see ' what paper target did you shoot today' and I thought what about us who smack steel? so, we will see how this works out. the 1st pic was from 153 yards2 shots and the 2nd was from 100 yards 3 shots. It was very cold on the mountain where my range is located, all shots 150gr 308 Texan, a pic of my range and the views.

Well I haven't shot it yet, but I made this last week, while in my shop, sizes from 1 to 3 inches. Have never shot steel other than plinking cans of course, we'll see what I've been missing! Most are between an 1/8 and 1/4 thick mild steel, outta hold up to 12-60fpe guns pretty good?

Tried out my new stencil on the steel plate- 1” center with 3” outer ring. So much easier than dealing with paper. The only downside of whacking steel is the mushrooms make the groups look larger than they are lol.

What are you hitting steel with? Nothing like the sound of hitting steel.

Looks like it's grouping well! Whatever you are shooting(.25 Ghost?)....at whatever distance(100Y?)....we need details!

What are you hitting steel with? Nothing like the sound of hitting steel.

Yesterday I was shooting my 250z .22 and the Ghost .25. I bolted a 24 x 24 x 3/16 steel plate to 5/8” cedar fence pickets. A hit produces a nice “tink” - loud enough to know I hit it.

I don’t usually shoot at less than 25 yds. Ninety nine percent of the pellets/slugs drop within 12” of the plate and are as flat as a washer. But, I have seen a few through the scope that start a return trip. A lot of the time it’s at 50 yds.

Those were JTS .25 33.8 gr “Take Down” pellets at 50yds.

I was shooting the Ghost and the 250z at 50yds, 87yds and 115yds. I played with a variety of pellets and slugs. I bought some .25 H&N 40 gr slugs for $11 a tin. They showed up banged up, but I decided to keep them anyway. So, I shot the the 40 gr slugs and some JSB pellets from the ghost at 115 yds ( just to try). I was playing with the power wheel and so the SD I and spread are not accurate.
