What did you buy/receive today?

The elusive Pinty Buster finally arrived. Interesting piece. The barrel was clean, 180bar of air in the cylinder, and it was well lubed. I cleaned it up a bit and shot a few magazines. I'm kind of impressed. 18 shots (a 10 then an 8 rounder), average ~700, SD 6 shooting JSB 18.1. And I hit the middle of the target each shot too? The trigger came in at 4lb 10oz; I will fix that in the morning. Its really loud. I used most of a Buck Rail moderator to tame it a bit. Im going to figure out a more suitable moderator.

I have the stock kit ordered, and it might show up. Ive got some ideas as far as optics go. I have a halo red dot, but I also have a nifty vortex scout scope, and a quick test shows me it might have the eye relief to work. Ill look at that in the morning too.

Overall, Im feeling ok about this. Especially the price.

I found the Donny fx .22/25 really did a good job, not silent but very low sound level. It's not horribly large either. I have a Silent Thunder Ordinance Pugio(shorter but wider) and it helped but the Donny Fx won.

Ebay. You need to measure the shroud you are replacing inside diameter and outside diameter. They sell most sizes at 500mm length for $24-40. I am going to cut the threads from the current shroud and glue them inside the carbon fiber.Then make a tension system for the barrel. At least that is the plan.

Maybe I will make some YouTube videos to show how......

Save yourself a lot of time and only buy from dealers who will actually function check and go over your gun before they ship it.
 
Received my BRK Sonoran back from AOA yesterday. My original intentions were to get it back, test fire it, shoot a demo target and put it and all its extras up for sale. I’ve only shot it at 75yds as my target stand was already at 75yds. I was very disappointed at first. I had put the same Discovery 5-25 ED scope back on it. In the past, I’ve been able to take it off and put it back on with no noticeable change in point of impact. I couldn’t put a pellet on the steel plate. It had a drop of over 5’ at 75yds. I maxed out the elevation and still had a 10 mil holdover. I looked over the mounts and checked the moderator for obvious clipping and didn’t see anything. I put it away. Before going to bed I pulled the scope and reseated it and changed the moderator. I centered the elevation, a real pain with 360 clicks of elevation. I got up and went out at 6am. Bam, back on steel. Added 10 mil of elevation and it’s pellet on pellet. I don’t think I can sell it LOL. AOA, did a great job. They replaced the lever linkage and pellet probe under warranty. They were also relatively quick, BZ.

If you're keeping the FX you should keep this one too for backup, or just hand it over to your wife. You should both have two good guns each, if you are going to bother to travel to shoot competitions.

Yeah. The FX might just edge it out. The Sonoran at 170-180bar can’t hit the power levels of the FX at 110-120bar. Pretty impressive considering the Bull Barrel took up so much of the plenum on the FX. Of course the FX has a longer barrel took. She’s going to shoot the Ghost, the Sonoran and the Panthera and see what she likes to shoot the most. For me the trigger is enough to sell it and get another Panthera or King. The BRK is a field trigger, the Panthera with the newer trigger is almost like a 10m match trigger. I just wish the FX factory would open up some communication with their customer base.I definitely agree with the backup rifles for competition. These were just some casual groups at 75yds in wind, uncompensated. Top two are the Sonoran with AEA 45gr, the other three are the FX with 50.5. The top left was unfair, had some clipping. The issue yesterday turned out to be a bad end cap.IMG_3656.webp

I don't remember where I saw it, but there was a rather technical post on fixing the BRK trigger, that looked legit to me. I would think that working on that trigger would be a lot less work, in the long run, than all the attention an FX needs, running at a competitive level. That's just a guess on my part though, there is a lot of sense in sticking to one brand too. Good luck figuring it out, that's where the fun is.
 
Bought some threaded 1/2 x 20 end caps from c88 machining since I'm missing one, I asked if he sells o-rings for the .25 fx barrel kit he sells and he was going to send em free w paid shipping so I figured I'd buy the end caps. Nice person every email interaction I've had with him. Works been late hours again so not a lot of energy or time to do air rifle stuff.
