Nice PapaT! I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing your opinion on this bad boy. Glad you got the 22 sent as well.Came home to surprise package! Pinty had reached out end of December and asked if I was interested in testing out a Vanguard in 177. I had agreed, but nothing until last week after shot show when I was told it would be on its way asap. Well, today it arrived and to my (pleasant) surprise it is actually the 22 cal version. Come visit and help me test it. Warning, we have sub-florida temperatures.![]()
I can’t wait to hear what you think of the F/X. I have an open mind. Finally got my next long term Frankengun project. Turns out I did a lot of research for nothing. In the end I just jumped on a good (and rather interesting) used gun deal at Utah Airguns. It was about the same money that I was planning to spend but I didn't have to do a lot of separate parts sourcing and the scope was way better than I planned on, or would have considered buying. It's a .22 F/X Dynamic 700 in a King Sabre Tactical chassis with a Element Nexus scope and some other stuff. It was only bought last August so hopefully everything will be good on it. What I found interesting is that the previous owner had made wooden furniture for it. It looks so much cooler than rubber and plastic. I hope the grip and the cheek piece are comfortable for me. The wood butt plate is probably not going to stay, but we'll see. All that it has to do now is to make it through the horrors of shipping. It's about time that I tried an F/X.
I have heard so many opinions myself, that I just have to give it a go. I often hear opinions about airguns that I know are total bs, or perhaps true, but a simple little fix or mod makes them great shooters, so I always consider the source. If people are tinkerers or experiment and are mechanically competent and like to work on their guns, and solve problems, but say something is junk, I listen. If someone believes that opening their wallet once, should solve any and all problems, and don't want to do any servicing of their guns at all, or even tune it, then I really don't want to hear too much from them, and just discount it anyway. I like all kinds of airguns. I do tend to gravitate towards airguns like my Paradigm, or TalonP, that are simple and tough and reliable, the most, and that is a hunting guns job. However my favorite activity is long range plinking off of my tripod and I don't need, or even want, the same thing for doing that. If a gun is delicate but otherwise is an easily tunable accurate beast, then I can be pretty darn careful with it. I'm keeping an open mind on it. The only thing I'm sure of is that I will be doing some kind of wild distressed paint job on this thing. The more accurate it is, the rougher I'm going to make it look. lolI can’t wait to hear what you think of the F/X. I have an open mind.
And that is exactly why I am excited to hear all about your journey with this beast! Honestly If money wasn't a problem (lol?) id buy a copper FX M4 and put it head to head vs my Ghost and do a solid 1 or 2 year usage review.I have heard so many opinions myself, that I just have to give it a go. I did that with a m3. While not a terrible gun once you fix its problems im still shooting the ghost. And that is exactly why I am excited to hear all about your journey with this beast! I've been there.....research the crap outta what you think your going to buy, then something else unexpected comes up and you buy that instead. The perfect tripod gun!
Your paint jobs look good. I’ve been thinking about maybe trying an electronic gun. I’m not sure yet. I have enough to play with right now. I haven’t even really touched the Pinty Buster. I almost went to look at an FX Maverick that was listed at a pawn shop for $999. I procrastinated for a couple of days and someone snapped it up.I have heard so many opinions myself, that I just have to give it a go. Do you have any other aftermarket mags to compare them against?Got some QD Fox mags for my Krait
Yes, I have Maple Mag, and CARM mags, I will be going shooting this afternoon and will compare them against one another.Do you have any other aftermarket mags to compare them against?
I have two Orion mags and they are fantastic.
Heard from the shop today, before I got home to call myself, and all is good now.For those who have bought from Baker Airguns before, do you usually get tracking information or just a surprise delivery? It is the only of my recent purchases that I haven't heard/seen anything although order was updated to complete.
