...is that I always wait too long to buy one!

I started out as a big Diana fan (and I still am!) but eventually I got around to trying an R9. Simply because I stumbled across a .20 cal in the used rifle rack at a local gun store. Buttery smooth cocking stroke, stellar accuracy, great feel in every way. That particular one has a little buzz to it, but someday it will get some fresh guides.... My experience with the R9 has led me to .177 and .22 versions, and they are all dear to me.
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Next, and years later, I bought a 35 in .177 from John in PA, almost on a whim. He hadn't tuned it yet, and I asked him to spare no effort when he did. And boy did he come through! The short stroke and fairly modest spring make for a fine shooting springer.
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Soon after, an early 77 in .177 that is super stable and super smooth. Handsome the way few rifles are.
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Then I finally got around to buying a 30, also in .177 and finding out that every claim about their status as Uber Plinker is legit, and then some.
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Finally got into 97's, first a walnut stocked .177 and very recently a synthetic .177
What can I say, that hasn't been said a thousand different ways?
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Recently, curiosity did me in again as it did with the 30, and I ordered a used 50 in .22 from AoA. Some say there's no need for it in the lineup. And I flatly disagree.
I say that it might be the ideal HW springer, blending most of the easy "friendliness" of the 30 with most of the capability of the 95, in a size that I probably prefer to both.
Great Rifles! Why did I wait so long to get one?

Finally, I have now taken my first steps with a 98 (in my case an older R11 in .177). A bench gun for break barrel lovers - all performance, no excuses. Plenty of good looks too. All I can say is "Thank you Wiehrauch!".

And you know where I'm going with this....

GREAT RIFLES!!
WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO GET A _______?!?! 😁

OK, but tell us how you really feel! Do you like Weihrauch springers? :ROFLMAO:

Hesco, you could also look into Cometa, especially their 400 series.
They are not in the same category as Diana, Weihrauch and AA, but they make very good rifles, and prices are quite fair.
Much better than any Crosman/Gamo/Hatsan etc guns.
I am hoping to buy a gas ram 400 from Keystone Airguns as soon as Jon is well again.

Weihrauch and Diana seem to be the only good springers left, aa is too rich for my blood.
I hear you but there is a reason they are more $. What do most people in the know do after getting an HW? Tune it! ...get the twang out. AA springers have that done for you. Moving onto the finish. The AA IS better. The TX bluing is so good my dad (a machinist) thought it wasn't bluing but some mysterious paint at first. The wood has more detail and sculpting too. I then commenced to drop my TX on the contrete floor hard (and was horrified about it) the Bluing mostly just laughed. Accuracy is stellar, I wouldn't go to say it's better than the others, far too subjective as you all know.
On that note I BADLY want an HW50 some day in .177 to replace my Slavia. Did you tune you HW50 @Kragman1 ? There is a slightly used on for sale @ D&L right now....hmmm.

I bought my 50 used from AoA, and I thought it was a really nice shooting OEM rifle, from just from a few shots taken in my little basement range.
After shooting it outdoors on Sunday, I noticed that the forward recoil is a little more pronounced than the same on the HW98 and also the FWB Sport. The 98 makes sense right? - only 2 fpe more energy but in a much heavier rifle. In the case of the Sport though, I'm a bit surprised.
I still think my 50 is OEM, or at least not hot rodded - it doesn't feel like it has a Vortek kit in it for example. But it makes good power with good fitting pellets - 650 fps with 14 grain Meisterkugeln for 13 fpe for one. And they're accurate. Great rifles. Well, great for those who don't wish they were bigger or smaller. I do think the 12-ish fpe range is probably a good place to stop with the 50. Maybe 12/13 like mine, if your rifle likes living in that neighborhood.
I'd like to tell you that it shot like an Olympic gun outdoors, but the wind was just too much for it. I was encouraged by what I felt that I was observing, but that's all I can say until I get it back to the range on a better day.

I found an Air Arms TX200 Mark III with a walnut stock at an auction in a nearby town. It was described as broken. I bought it for about $400 I think. I figured I could fix it, because it is one spring guns that I know does not need a compressor to safely take apart. I figure someone had taken it apart and did not set up the safety properly when reassembling it. I managed to fix it. It is super-accurate, my pride and joy. Keep looking and saving up your pennies. A used one will appear someday.

I'm hoping that someone makes an affordable 4-16x44 that isn't too long, too heavy or too expensive. Springer safe of course, for the 97s and TXs of the world.
Something close to 4-12 size. Side focus would be nice, because it would keep the front bell size down. And an evenly graduated reticle is a must. I think that a mil dot/half-mil hash reticle is hard to beat.

Even better would be a 6-18x44 with that reticle (correct at 18X) that isn't too long. The Panamax is close, but it's 14" long which may not work well on a springer with a loading port like the TX...

Looks like the weekend is my next possible window.
Saturday seems like the day....
Here's to get you excited 😊....Shot this 5 shot group @ 40Y Sunday evening after shooting my pcps. Held a bit high, but a nice tight 3/4 inch group. She does this all day for me if it's a pellet it likes! Things open up a bit at 50Y but cmon....it's a .177 springer🤠
