Revolutionary Umarex Komplete NCR PCP Air Rifle Launched Today

The Umarex Komplete NCR is a brand new PCP air rifle that’s launched today. In fact, it’s a revolutionary approach to the question of how to provide a “PCP in a box”.

It’s well-known that adoption of PCP air rifles in “big box” sporting goods stores is minimal. That’s due to the perceived complexity of PCPs, with their need for separate charging equipment.

Umarex Komplete NCR PCP Air Rifle

The Umarex Komplete NCR addresses that issue head-on by not requiring a hand pump, compressor or HPA tank. It’s truly a “PCP in a box” that can compete on retail shelves with the inevitable breakbarrel air rifles that still sell in volume at such locations.

Everything is included: gun, scope and HPA source. All the new owner needs is to buy pellets. That makes it comparable to a breakbarrel springer while the $199.99 MSRP is very competitive too.

So how does the Umarex Komplete NCR work?

Conceptually, it’s a high tech re-make of CO2-powered air rifles like the Hammerli 850 AirMagnum. These used 88 or 90 Gram CO2 cartridges to provide an operating pressure of up to about 1,100 PSI in the gun.

The Komplete uses a “NitroAir” power cartridge. It’s a similar size to the 88/90 Gram CO2 cartridges, however it contains 32 Grams of Nitrogen gas, providing a pressure of 3,600 PSI.

That 3,600 PSI pressure is fed to the Komplete’s built-in regulator where it is limited to 1,800 PSI shooting pressure. The result – says Umarex – is up to 45 consistent, regulated shots from each screw-on, disposable NitroAir cartridge.

That’s how the Umarex Komplete works. It’s a PCP, Jim, but not as we know it!

NitroAir represents a huge step-up in power from the 88/90 Gram CO2 cartridges, plus it does not suffer from CO2’s varying pressure (and hence performance) at different ambient temperatures.

Umarex Komplete NCR value proposition

It’s clear that the Komplete offers a HUGE value proposition for many airgunners who make their purchase in big box stores.

For $200, they can buy a PCP complete with a charging cartridge plus a 4×32 scope and rings. At a stroke, there’s no need for a HPA tank, compressor or hand pump. There’s no effort required to break the barrel, nor is there any need to deal with the recoil of a spring/piston or gas ram air rifle.

The Komplete offers sidelever cocking, magazine feed – two are included – plus an integral silencer. In .177 caliber, it’s specified to achieve above that critical 1,000 FPS Muzzle Velocity with lead pellets.

The NitroAir cartridges are sold in a two-pack for $24.99.

Hard Air Magazine is reviewing this ground-breaking new air rifle as you read this. Spoiler alert. We like it. A lot!!!

Even better, customer availability is anticipated to be before the end of July, 2024.

There’s more detail at the Umarex USA website.

I like options, especially for people who want something but won't be shooting a lot. Great for a camp gun option. The tanks can just sit until needed. I did the math and this is really expensive to shoot though. So this airgun is like a gateway drug that is inexpensive to buy, but gets you hooked. If it is as accurate as a Gauntlet, there will be a market for this, not a big one, but one none the less, and it has no competition at the moment. Umarex certainly is trying a lot lately.

I can already see this being something that will get modified with a regulated bottle. I think it's probably a good hook to those who purchase guns from box stores and have little knowledge to the fact this really isn't very economical. Getting 35 shots off one of those bottles, I can see the complaints now. I screwed the bottle in and it leaked out completely...so I put in the 2nd one and that leaked out. 😂 All jokes aside I can't wait to get one. Lol

So true! It’s gonna happen.

45 shots for $25 bucks. That doesn’t sound inexpensive. Add the price of pellets or slugs these days, and the steady increase in prices, this idea doesn’t look so good. Perhaps your HAM article could address that?
Think about the guy/gal that hunts a few times a year. While more expensive than using a .22, it's the same or cheaper than a shotgun. Quieter than a rimfire, with the advantage of being usable in situations where a rimfire would be discouraged.

I have to admit when I read the title I thought, here it is! The first (?) Pcp with a built in compressor!!!....probably weighs 20 pounds🤣...well I sure was wrong, but I'd prefer a built in compressor me thinks!😁 Leak scenario will go kinda like this: I'm gonna break out my gun that I haven't shot in a whiiii...hey its empty! Loads new expensive cartridge. Hisssss
...oh no it leaks! Grabs spray, locates leak. Attempts repair. Installs new cartridge, hsssss....NOOOOO I just dumped $30 looking for a leak!? Words are spoken in anger, gets large caliber (different) gun, shoots Komplete and then drives over it with truck multiple times(think Dana torture test x5). Gets turned off on pcps for rest of their life..... OK a bit extreme but we know it's gonna happen to someboby😆 I look at my airgun (PCP) hobby as a renewable energy to fill it kinda. The longer I use a pump/compressor the cheaper to fill it gets. This arrangement is more like gas for the car....you need it no matter what, and it costs this much, and is only avaliable at this store.

yea i think this will be a massive flop unless they can get ever wallmar to stock those cartiges ( and at about half that price or even less ) and i dont see that happening i cant get what i want at wallmarts as it is i hate that place.
i never got in to co2 cartage guns because of the the cartragte so although this looks cool and i am sure some will get them for their collectction i wont be one of them.
Pyramyd Air is your friend when it comes to CO2 cartridges. Buy in bulk from them (and Pellegun oil) and the price isn't too bad. And CO2 guns are fun!

I agree. I only wish the 88-90 gr C02 would have taken off. The price never really come down. So what would make people hope the nitro cart will come down? Don’t get me wrong, I hope it does. I also wish there were more powerful C02 choices. I was sad when they discontinued the 850.

Ok I have friends on both sides of the isle but geez. Unless the carts come down this will fail. You can’t make it more expensive than 22 rimfire. Heck its close to 9mm ammo. Remember Gamo came out with break barrel air shotguns? Novelty yes. Still have them? Yes. But ammo was higher than 20 or 12 ga. And before you blast me think about those big 88-90 gr C02 carts? Where are all the guns being made for them now? Very few. They were ground breaking also. Made the gun more stable (gas). But price killed it. What mades this different? No hand pump? Won’t take many of these carts to pay for a hand pump. Convenience is this biggest plus for this. I am really hoping for prices of the carts to fall. The gun does appeal to me. But not holding my breath

It is a nice idea but, as said, it is something which will be used while a novelty and then put in the back of the cupboard.

Pity sales are driven by claimed speeds on the box. If the power was wound down to say 12FPE you would get more shots which would help the cost factor. You still couldn't sell it in the UK even if it was under 12FPE as it is illegal to use anything other than air or CO2 in a gas gun.

This probably makes sense for the once in a while shooter ? Maybe it’s the gateway pcp. Yes that’s what it is. It’s for the Nay sayers
I’m one of those standing at the gateway. Got lotsa fire burners and a few springers that I love. My problem with jumping to PCP, so far, has been the amount of stuff you need to gather for an hour or two of shooting and the cost of compressors. With compressors now affordable and, somewhat, portable I think it’s time. As for gateway price , for me it is the price of a set of tires. While the $200 tag here is nice, I’ve never been in love with CO2 like options even though I love my Diana pistols.

With some of the smaller PCPs, like the Notos, for example, you can use a footpump to fill. And after most PCPs are zeroed in. All you need to gather are your pellets and whatever else you might bring incidental to the outing.

Excellent point. I love the idea of 12-13FPE if it could bring up the shot count where it is reasonable. But also like you said the non serious airgun big box crowd see fps as everything to them.

It’s hard to wrap my mind around. So for $5 to $8 more you can get a pcp with pump that will have endless air. Free air. Well it’s convenient that one is ready to go. Hmm it’s also convenient not to have to go to the store or online to order air. I really really want to like it but just struggling to justify it. Like the Gamo Viper Express, make it make sense.

I think they're still selling the 850 in Europe. Maybe check Krale?

you can get a PCP and hand pump and be putting mony in your pocket from the savings from not buy CO2 cartages.
i have a buddy with a benjamin and a hand pump its realy no differant the a old pump gun the pump just isnt a intrical part of the gun.
if these cartages aret a small fraction these guns will fail, bet money i would

you could easily keep a gun like the wifes BRK concept up and ready with a hand pump.
i know that a bit pricer but i am sure as mentioned others would be a great choice as well
