So I have owned a fair amount of compressors now. 2 vevor portables and 3 yong hengs and currently still own my gx le-2 which i love for portable gun fills. I really prefer having my 74 cu ft tank though for easier fills in the field, but my 3rd yong heng went down around 8 months ago and I have yet to replace it. The yong hengs have mostly been good, but having gone through 3 of them over the years I'm starting to question if I should try another route. I have looked at the vast majority offerings out there, and am now wanting to hear some first hand experience with other brands you guys have used. I understand you get what you pay for, but is there any compressors under the $1k mark that have just been fantastic for anyone here for being a reliable tank filler? I have attempted service on all 3 yong hengs only to have more issues after and ultimately just scrapping each one. Just looking for more insight on some better options rather than buy a 4th yong heng and rolling the dice again.

@CTAirgunner As far as I can tell the super and turbo chargers are discontinued? I had wanted one of those in the past as well.

I'm looking hard between two GX pumps. Cs4-i and the E 5k2 as they seem to have a decent reputation for reliability and ease of maintenance. The main difference being faster fill times and higher cost for the E 5k2 . From everything I can tell, for my needs of filling a 6.8l tank maybe once a week they should both do fine.

As far as the yong hengs, your experience sounds on par with most and overall I was pleased with the few I had. I think I'm just ready to take the plunge into the more "refined" side of compressors.

If I were going to buy another compressor, right now, to fill tanks, it would be an Omega Air-Charger or the single cylinder GX E5K1. Slower fill times are fine with me, less heat, less parts, less weight.

I have three YH, one I use all the time to fill a 2.17L bottle, another to fill 6.8&9L bottles, and the third is an untouched nib spare. I have fixed the two, once each, but haven't touched them for quite a while now. I started to use distilled water with Water Wetter instead of running cold tap water, and it works better. The noise they make, I believe, is their biggest negative. Bottom line is the YH fills fast and are relatively problem free after a thorough sorting out out, very fixable, and very easy to say goodbye to when you're sick of them because they don't cost much. I have been thinking about getting an Omega or a GX for a while now too, but the YH just keep working, and I keep putting it off.

Well I’m looking as well but my Yong Heng is still working. I can tell you to stay away from the nomad air compressors, I have destroyed 3 of them 2 under warranty the last one is still sitting in the basement somewhere

Yong hengs aren't bad for what you pay for, they help many on a budget fill tanks and guns usually for awhile. I got my use out of the ones I've had and I know alot of people do. Even though they're rebuildable I've never been successful at it, and I can turn a wrench. Time will tell if this new compressor is worth the money.

As far as portable compressors, my gx le 2 is fantastic and absolutely will replace it when it goes. They are easily maintained and the ability to use batteries instead of hooking up to a car battery is HUGE , especially when out pesting and multiple fills are needed. I will never buy another vevor and have heard enough about the air venturis to stear way clear of them.

Well, I guess I’m joining this club. My 7 month old Toauto appears to have just
died. I probably wouldn’t have ordered a BRK Sonoran If I’d foreseen this happening lol. I’m really not sure what to buy.

I like mmy air charger but i only fill a 100 cu in bottle. Mike thomas uses 1 to fill his big bottles though. I have had 0 problems with mine in 2 yrs
