Hopefully it's an organization/sanctioning body, like AAFTA, or IDPA, or ARA, or ISSF, or SASS, or ATA, or etc, instead of a retailer/business entity.

I love what Utah Air, AOA, and PA have done for creating large airgun competitions, but there are very blatant conflict of interests in those three scenarios. The biggest level of airgun competitions is in sore need of an actual sanctioning body, objectively speaking.

I don't mean to be negative about this proposed event, it could be a great thing. But I can't help thinking...

- There's a lot of prize money (over $100K in the prize pool, so the website says). Plus the costs to organize and run the event. Where's all that finance coming from? Sure, there's Sponsorship opportunities advertised, Sponsors - IPAC but no indication that any companies have signed-up yet to bankroll the event.

- This is proposed to be a new, 5-day event. According to the website deadline counter today, there's just 111 days until it starts. Ask anyone at AoA, Pyramyd or UA who is familiar with running (shorter) shooting events like this: it takes most of the year and a lot of dedicated (and experienced) people to run their shoots in a professional manner. So early May sounds like a very tight deadline for a new organizational team unless a ton of work has been done already.

- Shooter registration is to be open in February. However there's no indication yet of the costs to participate as a competitor.

Overall, I'm probably saying that I would be happier to see a little more transparency about the event and who is behind it.

I would be delighted if anyone from the IPAC organization would like to answer my questions

Well it’s at the Ares Training/range facility, which is about 50 miles from DonnyFL. They might have some info.

My guess is that starting this late in the game, canvassing for competitors and sponsors, it’s not going to happen. It takes longer than three months to put something like this together.

Rumor is that the impetus for this is BinTac, so another manufacturer competition.

It happens a week prior to a large (45 to 50 shooters) established competition in Oregon, the EFT and EBR/Long Range that started in 2021.
My recommendation is to participate in the Oregon competition as a warm up for RMAC….

If this IPAC actually does happen, I’ll take a look at going next year. But there is currently very little info and a great deal of the web info is copied off the RMAC web site. What is entry fee? Many other unexplained statements. Interested in seeing if/how it turns out.

With Leesburg, FL and Oregon being nearly 3000 miles apart I imagine Oregon won't get many of the Southeastern US shooters anyway.

My thoughts on it are....if you're within a reasonable distance of this new IPAC match, go support it. And if you're somewhere in the middle, travel-time wise, consider where you're likely to win the biggest purse . Either way, a decent turn out of competitors at the inaugural match increases the chances of it becoming a repeat event. And more matches are good for all of us, even the companies selling guns.

I just hope that if it is a legitimate event, the entries are accessible to everyone. If it’s like some of the other events where a large chunk of spots are filled before the official registration even opens, it will be disappointing.

You mean that for events that are primarily marketing/product showcases/tradeshows, the organizers shouldnt reserve a good chunk of all available slots for their team shooters?

Well then advertise it as a showcase, dog and pony show, trade show, demonstration
, EXHIBITION shoot and highlight the fact that it’s mostly trade only participation. I didn’t see one event last year that was advertised as a trade event, I’m pretty sure they were all advertised as competitive events. I guess I was confused, I thought it was airguns not NASCAR. Another airgun marketing Doh!: Let’s provide events for all the guys that we give our product free too and provide nothing for the shooters that keep us in business. Glock had the right idea: provide competitive events on a traveling basis for the shooters that buy their guns- grow the base.

Common knowledge that there aren't enough slots opened up to the general public at the big events. That's one of the reasons why I said more events is good for everyone.

Sorry. I have to admit, I was a little confused, I thought your first post was along the lines of what I was saying. I also agree with you, that a non-profit body would be ideal running some events. But, I can see how fragmented the airgun community (as scattered around) is and that would be hard to do.
