These binos feature high-quality Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass. This is combined with premium Lanthanum ocular (eyepiece) elements, and dielectric coated, phase-corrected, compact BAK-4 roof prisms. I'd be willing to bet that these will be one of the best pair of binoculars going for the money spent. I was totally blown away by how good the first generation of these bino's were. They were at the top of the recommendations at birder and binocular review sites, and I suggested them to my brother in law for a trip he was taking. He got them and came over and I spent the better part of an hour comparing them against a pair of Leica Trinovids that I have, it took that long because I didn't want to believe that I actually thought the view was better. The Leica were 20 years older but they were over a $1K when I got them and were top rated, and these were around $400, I think made in China, and I prefered the view. Binoculars are like shoes though, you've got to try them to see if they are right for you.
