Others New drs tactical mk2

When my magazine jammed the other day, I was trying to test Steve’s theory of “ more shots with heavier pelket”. I had gotten 21 shots with 66.2gr, 22 with 50.5 and it jammed if I remember right switching between 50.5gr and 45gr. I’m not liking the shot count, but the SD is lower with a harder hammer. I may end up adding a small “boost” up font. But, I’m not willing to lose the stock Arca rail. Then I’m wondering how the decreased plenum space will affect all of this.

Fx says i think 32 shots with the 50. What is a small boost? If you are getting tight groups right around moa i wouldn’t worry about a sd of 4 and if you would weigh enough pellets to shoot a test say 40 exactly the same weight i think you will be surprised cause you will loose those 2-3 shots that kill your sd! Don’t worry about the plenum you don’t need all of that for what you are doing!

I’ve tried sorting the pellets several times. Hopefully I can get it fixed and play with it some more.
By boost , I just mean a small bottle. I haven’t tried sorting by head size, sounds like too much work.
Right now I can’t move my left arm and the orthopedic surgeon today told me that I might have difficulty moving it for the next 4-7 days.

You can have your bottle on the bench just can’t tether so i wouldn’t worry too much about that. Really if you are getting the groups you were showing i wouldn’t worry about sd. My 1st time out there i was more worried about double shooting a target cause when their in the black ring their hard to see. You will be fine! I doubt either of us is gonna walk away with $7500. Lol. Would be nice though!😂😂😂IMG_3701.webp
This was my practice target last time. Guy next to me was shooting my sighters

Wow. That’s crazy. No, be assured I have no expectations other than having fun.

In my Dynamic with a Superior Heavy 700mm 1in16" barrel, the Zan ELR 42.3gr shot very well at 240y going 950fps.The AM 40.1gr shot slightly more accurate doing 968fps. My favorite, all around though, is the H&N Precision 33gr at 1040fps.

The only poor performing ammo that I have tried so far is the Zan HyperLine 40.7gr at 987fps. They shot all over the place, even at slower speeds, down to 850fps. I wish more people would try those and post their findings. They should have corrected the problem by now, but I am not buying any more until somebody says they shoot great.
As soon as they actually have some .30 cal hyperlines in stock I’ll give them a try.

I have maple magazines making me a special single shot loader that will take a 11.4 mm long slug! That will take 40 gr slugs and hes putting a oring in the middle so it will hold a boat tail slug.
I want him to make me the exact same thing but in .30… is 11.4mm the longest he can go?

Okay so I didn’t get to shoot much this weekend. Went up the mountain to do some fire prevention stuff on a buddies property.

That being said I did get to ring steel at 100y and 200y and I have to say I was really impressed. It was windy and we didn’t have paint for the steel with us so it was hard to do any grouping. I did manage to find a less marked up spot on the 100y target and I was really impressed. It’s not much of a group but at 100y in a 6-7mph quartering wind it’s not bad. Especially since this is with the lightest .30 slug I’ve even seen.

I think I see 6 or 7 slug impacts in that string there. You can see how the wind was making them drift but this is off an Amazon tripod with a camera ball head mount. In the wind. It’s not a precision setup. That string of shots was about 2” across maybe slightly less.

Then this morning I shot video of a 48y group from the driver’s seat of my car…. I have other slugs to try but I find the gun so damn easy to shoot right now I’m loathe to touch it.

I did up the reg to about 155bar and then backed the hammer spring out like 2 clicks…I think I’m 4-5 clicks in. This is with the Huma hammer spring, smaller of the brass hammer weights from the Huma kit and the high pass pin probe… I’m still shooting them at about the same speed too. I just found that it’s pretty much just nailed on to 958fps with this setting. Like really nailed on.

There’s so much headroom on this gun still. I haven’t even asked it to break 100fpe yet.

At the end of the day what I love most might be the fill pressure 🤣🤣🤣… my EQ is a 4500psi air hog. With my 4.5L tank filled to only 4200psi my DRS will shoot all week long.

I’ll post some video of the 100y steel. But I forgot to mention it’s only tied down up top so it swings after every shot.

Dont know he said that leaves the plastic in the front to engage the barrel and he removes the plastic at the rear I haven’t seen it yet. I don’t think there is much more room in the receiver than that. Send him an email and ask he got back to me very quickly like 20 min

Just to give you a bit to think about before your's arrives. I went the other route and took a classic and added the Buc Rail AR style all plastic stock. The grip is one of my favorites the FORM AR grip. I have mine shooting 25.39 KOs lights out with the reg at ~145 and I don't remember where the spring is. They are going at 1034fps. I'm sure you will enjoy it! Don't put an 18g pellet in it at this setting - they go supersonic!!!

What's your shot count, sir?

Okay,

So over the weekend I had the chance to ring steel at 100y and 200y. Both of those targets swing when you hit them so it wasn’t conducive to shooting groups. I’m posting the 100y video first. You can actually see the impacts are consistent and very loud.

This was done off my coyote setup. So an Amazon tripod and 3 legged hunting stool haha.

As for groups I’m also including a group I shot at 48y the other day. This is from the driver’s seat of my car, with my homemade shooting bag (rice in a ziplock). You’ll see very quickly just how easy to shoot and consistent it is.

*both of these videos are with the hex slugs at 960fps.

I’m also linking a video from last night. I’m still progressively tuning this gun for higher power. So this video is with the Hex slugs at 975fps. I also refined my scope height and I feel like I really have the ballistic calculator dialed in now.

This one is also probably my favorite with the DRS so far. It feels very much “my style” in the sense that this is exactly what I tune for… the slug hit hard enough that the bunny took 0 steps and I didn’t even see any twitching. But at the same time there was just a tiny entrance wound with almost no blood and no exit. Perfection.
