New CCI airgun slugs

I have to wonder if this is roughly based upon the Corbin semi-wadcutter airgun pellet profile. They no longer produce it (I don’t think), but it was their swaged “pellet” using a semi-wadcutter core, with a round nose punch, the hollow base could easily be changed to a dish base with a dish base punch. Then add the Corbin “X” punch and you have something very similar to the CCI High Bar. 😉
Take a look at the pellet profile on the right. Not exactly the same, but very similar.

I’ve always liked CCI .22LR/WMR AMMO. I would/think that with their roots/experience and assets, they’d have some research behind it. I thought that too with Norma pellets, only to discover that Norma pellets are designed and produced by RWS. My big take away from this is: an ammunition manufacturer famous for their .22LR/WMR products, feels that the airgun ammo market is worth their investment. I am somewhat concerned about the potential consequences of blurring the boundary of airguns and more powerful options.
That was my thought. I shot quite a bit of their ammo when I was competing, and appreciate their interest. I also am concerned about what other interest it will generate.

Looks like CCI is entering the airgun ammo world. Have a look.

Thanks for the news!! 🤝🏼
The more players on the slug market, the better and cheaper the products should eventually become. 😊

I have slight hopes that these segmented slugs will produce
⭐ glory kills on pigeons.

But where even .30cal Polymags at 1000fps failed.... — this is a tall order for any subsonic projectile....

Maybe I need to up the caliber to 9mm? (Did anyone try 9mm on pigeons?) 🤔

CCI company had to have name brand airgun folks contribute and independently test these slugs. I would suspect NDA's were signed by all parties to keep it quiet till the release. There reputation as a rimfire ammunition manufacturer providing .22's since 1963 is remarkable. Started by Richard Speer and Arvid Nelson they have a long track record of great products. Maybe Gaylord, Chapman, or Davis knows more?

Whoa fellows ! There seems to be a whole lot of armchair quarterbacking going on ! This reminds me of a certain firearm years ago that no one bought ( except me) but yet most people trashed it for accuracy , build quality & general uselessness. I handloaded some ammo & shot some very good groups with it AND did some amazing wingshooting with it also ( pistol caliber & small bore shotgun combo). Like a famous comedian said loosely, "that'll shut [her] 'em up". I have one gun powerful enough to try them in if the mag will allow the length. I will grab some as soon as I can & give them a test. What we don't know, we don't know!
