Spring/Piston looking for long term premium Air Rifle

Hello everyone,

I’m fairly new to the world of air rifles and based in New Delhi, where imported models are not always easy to find. My preference is for a high‑power break barrel rifle.

The Weihrauch HW90 has been my top choice, mainly because of its gas ram system, which I prefer over spring pistons since springs can suffer fatigue over time. Unfortunately, the HW90 has been out of stock for the past seven months, and the dealer has no clear timeline for restocking due to limited import options.

Given that, I’m now considering the Diana RWS 350 Magnum. I really like the power it offers and have read many positive reviews. The main difference is that the HW90 uses a gas ram, while the 350 Magnum relies on a spring piston.

My question is: should the fact that the Diana uses a spring piston instead of a gas ram affect my decision? Does the shooting experience, maintenance, or long‑term reliability differ enough to make this a deciding factor?

Any insights from experienced shooters would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure that other members will help with advice and suggestions, but I have a question. What caliber are you looking for? Somewhere I thought that .177 cal was required for airguns in India. Is that true? And/or, are there any other restrictions, such as on power in your country?

I'm sure that other members will help with advice and suggestions, but I have a question. What caliber are you looking for? Somewhere I thought that .177 cal was required for airguns in India. Is that true? And/or, are there any other restrictions, such as on power in your country?

.177 is the only calibre that doesn't need a license. for .22 I need to get firearms license.

I've shot a couple of gas ram rifles and found them rather harsh, but I've never shot an HW90. I would not be afraid of getting a spring piston gun. Yes, the factory springs don't have a good reputation for longevity, so I would order a spring kit at the same time and hold it in reserve.

I currently own the Precihole NX200 Athena, which has served me well and is a solid rifle in its category. However, after using it for some time, I’ve noticed that there’s a significant difference in overall quality, finish, and performance when compared to imported rifles from Germany, the U.S., the U.K., and Spain.

That’s why I want my second rifle to be from one of these international manufacturers — not just for the higher build quality, but also for the consistency, durability, and shooting experience they’re known for.

I understand your desire for a quality springer. I own a TX200, a HW97K, as well as a HW5OS. I appreciate both the British and the German build quality and accuracy. The TX200 is very easily worked on, a big benefit when tuning my rifles. I have the Vortek PG4 tunes on each of my spring piston guns. I have never handled ordered shot a Precihole rifle and would be interested in your knowledge of the quality and accuracy of these rifles. How difficult or easy is your Precihole to work on? Have you tried to tune it at all? Looking forward to hearing from you, Orv.
