I had an Avenger years ago, before they went with a choked barrel that was 100 fpe. Was my first pcp and my first hand at modifying one. Wayne made the plenum, he's first class, to this day I wish I never sold it.Alien airguns (Wayne Reid) is the go to avanger barrel maker .. if you want anything over 24” you’re going to need to go with a tj barrel . But from experience the modded Ava can reach 100 ft lbs from a 24” lothar walther barrel . He is a busy guy with airgun products expect a little wait .. but he’s your best choice hands down .. attached is a barrel he made and window ported for a customer ,and my custom Ava bench gun that has his lw unchoked barrel.

Thanks for info, dont plan on getting rid of it.I think there is an ebayer that makes something so an fx barrel can be used. Just keep in mind you will be going down a $$ filled road that will never be worth it if you ever want to move the gun in the future.
what do you mean by a choked barrel?
A choked airgun barrel has a slightly narrower section near the muzzle, designed to gently constrict the projectile just before it exits. Think of it like the barrel giving the pellet or slug a final handshake—tightening just enough to ensure a consistent grip and clean departure.what do you mean by a choked barrel?
Thanks. Well explained!A choked airgun barrel has a slightly narrower section near the muzzle, designed to gently constrict the projectile just before it exits. Think of it like the barrel giving the pellet or slug a final handshake—tightening just enough to ensure a consistent grip and clean departure.
The main goal is to improve accuracy. That gentle squeeze can center the projectile perfectly and reduce any wobble, especially with diabolos, which are more forgiving. It can also help create a better seal and slightly boost velocity consistency shot to shot.
Now, whether a choke helps or hinders depends a lot on your setup. With heavy slugs, high pressures, or certain barrel harmonics, a choke might become a liability—creating turbulence, deformation, or velocity drops. But for traditional pellet guns or hybrid setups, a well-cut choke can be magic.

I Understand. Thank u , im knew to the pcp world so still have a lot to learn and with help from excelent descriptions like yours its going to be a fun experience.A choked airgun barrel has a slightly narrower section near the muzzle, designed to gently constrict the projectile just before it exits. Digger88: Did you proceed with a new barrel?I Understand. Thank u , im knew to the pcp world so still have a lot to learn and with help from excelent descriptions like yours its going to be a fun experience.
Not yet still looking.Digger88: Did you proceed with a new barrel?
Some time soon I'll be bugging him about a plenum/solid transfer port for Liberty's, what size is the plenum in front of the trigger and what caliber does it shoot? Anything you would do differently w the aftermarket plenum size wise? I have them in 22 and 177, possibly 25 cal later on.I had an Avenger years ago, before they went with a choked barrel that was 100 fpe. Was my first pcp and my first hand at modifying one. I think the stock one was 7 or 8cc and the one in the picture was 15cc, it was a 25 caliber and shot 44gr slug I sold it 2 years ago and regret it every day. Some time soon I'll be bugging him about a plenum/solid transfer port for Liberty's, what size is the plenum in front of the trigger and what caliber does it shoot?
