Long Strike takes another Yote

We spent a total of eight days on a large ranch that has a huge problem with coyotes and hogs. This was the 3rd coyote with the Long Strike. Spotted this one during dusk, taken at 40 yards through the shoulder with 260gr NSA.

Very nice but,
“Up here in NY, the coyotes run the open fields but stay glued to the wood line. For that kind of hunting, I still grab my .308 Texan. It stays consistent in the cold, reaches past 120 yards without throwing a fit, and doesn’t get bullied by every gust of wind. The Rattler’s fun, sure — but around here it’s a 70–100 yard gun on its best day. And coming from a one‑shot‑one‑kill mindset, I’m not relying on a mag dump to fix a rushed shot. For three grand, I’m not buying a second‑fiddle PCP. If I wanted something that expensive just to look cool, I’d buy a snowmobile I never ride. (Not meant to knock what you find effective — just being realistic.)”

Not meant to knock what I find effective but decided to anyway? The .45 Rattler blows the .308 out of the water as far as power and effective range on large game. Not sure about a fiddle PCP but it certainly isn't a broomstick. I'm outta here, you folks can have it.
“Just to clarify — I wasn’t talking about max power or large‑game setups. Effective range isn’t just FPE on paper; it’s stability, BC, wind drift, and how predictable the platform stays in cold, gusty conditions. For the 100–120 yard coyote shots I take up here in NY, my .308 Texan has simply been more consistent and easier to trust. If your .45 Rattler performs better for your terrain and quarry, that’s great — different setups shine in different environments.”

when tuned for power my 308 isn't just more powerful than the 45 cal Rattler, it doses it with half the weight slug and stays accurate twice the range.
