I’m mulling the idea of. Back-up benchrest rifle. My first thoughts lead me to buying an FX Dynamic in MKII in .30 for the added air capacity and parts compatibility with the Panthera. A .35 might be nice for double duty as a deer gun. But, .35 does not seem very popular for bench rest. I would’ve thought it would handle the wind a little better? I’m not making a decision anytime soon. I’m just trying to get more information.

Bench is up to .35. Some of the Red Pandas were .338 I believe. I think we are about to see a seismic shift to bigger bores. I could be wrong, but I do not think everyone shot what they said they shot. If you look at the equipment list, there is only like one Red Pandas listed shooting extra heavy pellets. Most are listed as .30, shooting 50.5gr. I’m not really sure what the facts are on .338 being used. It was mentioned by several people.

I suppose its possible but i don’t think it will happen unless somebody starts making 35 cal pellets with a bc of .1 or more. Cost comes to bear also bigger lead costs more and people are here to save money over 22 lr not spend more.

Hopefully there’ll be a video on what Thane used. There were lots of FX, RTI and Karmas. There was a guy near me on the first day of practice shooting an EdgunWest AAA Apex HPS .30. But, I’m not sure that he shot it during the competition. There were lots of interesting setups.

If i were you at this point in my comp career i would wait till you get your panthera back and see if you are happy with the way its shooting. If so then i would buy aNother panthera. That way you would have a backup gun. Thats why i have 3 ghosts.
