How many magazines do you need?

I would imagine shooting competition one would want sevral more then most of us?
maybe some of our competitors can chime in on that idea?

Not AG, but when I shot competitive 3 position PB I had magazines loaded for the entire course of fire. The last thing I wanted to do at a competition was reload magazines.

When I shot three gun competitions? I had beaucoup mags, fully loaded, so I understand the convenience and necessity in those instances… As an aurgunner, even in intense pesting environments, one magazine is “more” than enough. When I’m pesting? If I start worrying about remaining shots in my magazine? I know I’m having a good session…

Now that I have my Taipan I find myself using the single shot tray versus the magazines for target shooting, pacing myself has the best results.

Hate to say it, but it depends…

I only need 1 for my hunting rifles.
Some rifles prefer to be single shot.

For the others on the bench. I usually like to have at least 2, especially if they are tiny. I could get by with 1 when they are large mags.

One great thing about fewer mags, is that it makes you slow down, so I usually shoot less, so it also saves me money.

As for the new wave of $100+ mags, I have been buying from Carm or Orion or others. I have also found the Stud Mag loader system that comes with effectively 4 fast loaders for FX rifles to be kinda awesome when I want to shoot a lot but not spend a lot of time loading at the bench or pay a lot for actual magazines.
