My name is Tom and I am an airgunner from UK 🇬🇧!

I am a part of the Daystate/BRK ASP and have been for a few months now which is a I’m so happy to be apart of.

Im a proud owner of a fair number of Sub 12 Airguns especially of my Daystate Redwolf & Alpha Wolf, I’m a target shooter first mainly bench rest, but recently taking up HFT and helping local farmers out with some pest control - In short been shooting since I was a Cub in Scouting in the UK it’s a sport and hobby I enjoy and have a great passion for :)

Current shoot .177 sub 12, but hope that changes soon with my licence application.

Hope to meet and speak with any of you fellow airgunners here in the HAM Community, I’m happy to learn from anyone and share my experience in posts here and from video content I’m trying to do on my YouTube Sussex Airgunner

Welcome to the HAM community from UK. Glad you are here!

Welcome new Hamster! Love that Alphawolf! It's currently a sub 12 rifle now? Boy that's a shame. It screams power just looking at it. If allowed, I hope maybe it will get a huge leap in its potential power?
Yep currently sub 12 .177 hoping to get my FAC over here soon and then will be looking at getting one in HP & probably .25 and would pick up a .22 barrel I think also for that.

I am still a newbie,I guess, in the pcp world. I have 5, 2 being 25s and 3 22's.The lowest powered of them is a 19ftlb Gamo. My highest being a 47ftlb Avenger in .25. It stinks that they have the sport so choked down there. Do you have to have that license to even have an air rifle to take down rabbits at any kind of distance?

In the England & Wales without a licence we’re restricted to 12ft/lbs, which power wise means people really only use .177 .22 and the rare .20. Rabbits. No you don’t need a license to shoot Rabbits. Just needs to be on your own land or have landowners permission. Find my sub 12 easily fine and reducing Rabbit numbershumanly at 30/40yrds no problem. In Scotland you need a Licence to own Airgun even sub 12 then the same rules above apply. Anything over sub 12 requires a Firearms Certificate (FAC).

Wow, had no clue it was that bad. Course. Bad is a subjective term, since we dont have those restrictions. Seems here most will say. Ohh for rabbits you need this, or this and that lol. I grew up taking them 1 shot with a Daisy 880 in 177 when I was 8 years old. When I got back into air rifles other than as toys, all that talk took me as a suprise. Of course now, my game is raccoons and coyotes that try to get my chickens, so more power is a must, along with bigger pellets/slugs.

Tom, why the restriction to 12lb.? Seems a "grabbed outta the air" number.

Yer still have a lot of fun regardless with Sub 12 with Target Shooting, HFT and pest control (Squirrels, Rabbits and Rats). Just have to prove a reason to own anything more powerful, which is the hoop I’m going through at the moment.

Oh the way innovation and design as turned when years ago from a springer to a pcp of the likes of a Weihrauch HW100 to now what the likes of Daystate Alpha/Delta Wolf or BRK Ghost in technology, design and power is incredible.

It’s dates back to a very old law I believe to Air Rifles, these days it’s because of the power and how quite they are is the perception I get.
It's been said that British air rifles of the time tended to max out around 12 ft-lbs. But American and European ones were higher, so a little bit of protection for British industry.

All at the low low cost to the British citizenry and they freedoms.also helps explain why so many visitors here are put in a literal state of shock when they hit they first arrive.

It almost seems like heaven forbid the citizenry actually have an air rifle they could protect themselves with,if worse came to worse.Almost sounds like a lot of our politicians crap. Except, of course for them, friends and familiy.
