I believe that a man of your constitution could just sell off some silly PCP if it didn’t suit him. 😁

I have a still-functional Hill MK3 that I purchased around 2015-2016?

I've never replaced an oring in the thing! It was my primary air source for a couple years. I was really good about opening it up and cleaning it and relubing with silicone every 6 or so months back when I was using it hard. I topped a gun off with it last year just to see if it still works and it went to 250bar without any hiccups.
 
I got the Hill mk5 along with Revere in Mar22, and the the Ghost HP in Oct23 and have only ever lubricated the external pump shaft…i keep track of how many pumps it takes to fill the hose to ~200 bar because that is my typical time to refill pressure and it hasn’t changed ~12 pumps. I am using that as a guide/indicator of when i will need to replace o-rings. I am refilling the Ghost 1/wk min. and Revere around 1/2wks
I think the key to longevity is maintaining lubrication and stop pumping before it gets hot. Ghost 200 to 250 bar i can pump in one nonstop session without the pump getting “hot” with hot being ~ 130F if i were to guesstimate what I consider hot.

Lube, and opening them up pretty often.

I killed a Benjamin hand pump prior to the Ghost. It simply rusted out. The two pumps that I've owned both created a sludge of moisture and silicone that would build up internally. Getting that watery sludge out of there regularly, and relubing with a thin, fine film of silicone is what makes a pump last, in my opinion.

Agreed, the sludge was unreal in my pump (and super gross!), and I full stripped it last year as well. From now on every 6 months! Takes a good hour, pour a coffee, let the good times roll😅 Trust me @tec when the small high pressure o-ring goes you will instantly know. 1 keep it lubed- I've use Silicone grease & a little oil 2. keep it from getting hot. 3. Do NOT pull hard at top of stroke on the MK5, the brass washer will eventually slide down the piston and chop O-ring up. That is why the seal kit comes with an O-ring and piston. I've noticed as well on both my pcps going from 150Bar to 200 seems harder than going from 200 to 250!? Not to Jinx it... but reseal #3 has lasted since fall now and it's used weekly.

kinda sounds like the hill is the way to go.
is a used one worth looking at?
are they simple to dismantle, go thorough and rebuild?

It was a chore to get everything broke free the very first time but after that its very straightforward to open it up for a degunk. Not sure why they put em together so tight from the factory.

I've heard that some of the cheap no-name hand pumps on Amazon are pretty good these days, but no direct experience there. I definitely got my money's worth out of the Hill though.
 
Agreed, full proper strip/clean/dry/lube service on MK5 is half hour now for me, and it's enjoyable with coffee😅. I have all the o-rings stocked now and only change if required. The main (green) high pressure o-ring is kinda special but all the rest I got bags of em locally for like 10cents each.

Just like it sounds, there are three "stages" inside the pump.
The three stages nest inside of each other, first and biggest stage outermost, third and final stage innermost. The pressures increase in each stage til that third and final stage inside where the final pressure is made. There are check valves and air passageways on top (near handle) and bottom (near base) of the pump that makes all the magic happen.
 
I bought a Vevor from amazon 4 months ago to fill the Hatsan QE .22. It served me well, and i got a good cardio workout, but now with the Ghost Plus i have a Hill Evo 310 and that will fill the ghost to 250 bar in less than 3 mins. looks like I'm going to put on some weight. lol
