At the former dairy, where I still get a lot of action, sparrows and starlings mostly. There use to be hundreds of pigeons and then I had zero qualms about taking them out. I have been observing a lone pair and cutting them a break. On my last two trips I’ve noticed but a single pigeon. Am wondering if something happened to its mate. And whether I should end its lonely watch? Thoughts?

I try to not humanize animals, but do take their right to exist into account... This lone pigeon is doing no harm, so it gets a pass from me.

Aye Luis I am of the mind that having some wisdom in granting mercy, where none might seem due.

The lone pigeon on the peak of the roof, unmolested? Attracts other birds to perch there also, sparrows and starlings, they don’t get a pass. So I do have an ulterior motive in granting that pigeon mercy.
