The other day a notice came up on my Xero saying there was a firmware updated available. I looked online & all I could find about the update from Garmin was that it fixed issues. Was having any issues so I updated the firmware. I think the description of the update should have read "Causes problems" ever since I’ve done the update I’ve had nothing but issues. Inside I get a screen saying interference encountered, never had this before inside shooting in the exact same spot & nothing new that would cause interference has been added. Outside it’s missing shots, that wasn’t the case before the update. Now it seems to be real picky on placement which it wasn’t before. I wish I could go back but I don’t think that’s possible. I even did a factory reset hoping this would fix the issues, it did NOT.

If you get the notice to update your firmware, I’d recommend not doing it.8

Why i hate all this hi tech stuff. Do 1 thing wrong and its junk! You should talk to garmin direct and get them to help you out. I know i love mine and won’t be updating as it works too well as is

Brutal man, as always if it ain't broke don't fix it! I still have a computer running windows xp at home lol😂 I'd ask them if they have an update for the update? In all seriousness I'd imagine they would warranty something like that, have you had it long?

First time with software ? Updating usually means this . Never update unless it's become non-functional and you just have to .

Like Microsoft learned to force updates cause nobody would update all the useless crap that degraded the usefulness ..lol

Kinda falls under if it not broken don't upgrade it .. lol

Yea I broke one of my own rules, I normally don’t upgrade unless it fixes an issue or adds a feature I want.

I haven’t Garmin but I do intend to let them know

Contacted Garmin their CS was very responsive, told me the inference banner was new with the update before the Xero would just go berserk. When I told him I was shooting 11m the other day, he tells me that the Xero needs a minimum of 20 yards to work, despite that it worked before at 11m. Did offer reluctantly to send me a replacement. I agreed to do some more testing at 30 yards to see if he was right or my unit was messed up.

This afternoon I took the Reximex out, that what I was shooting when the problem arose, shot 32 shots the Xero recorded 18. It’s .177 so I tried it with the Marauder pistol Xero saw 14 out of 16. Next I tried the .177 Avenge-X Xero saw 16 out of 36.

I ask about reverting the firmware back to the old version, he tells me it can’t be done. He tells me it can’t be done. I told him it could be done, if you don’t support it just say so or send me the file & I’ll try it. They won’t give you the old file, they’d rather replace the unit. I now need to call them back & see about a replacement.

I agree the old file should be available so can bring back to original. and YES it is doable. I am of the thought - never do an update unless reversible. typically I buy some gadget I also download the firmware/software in case it gets corrupted. I did not do so on mine....not thinking straight! thanks for the info.
So how did the replacement do?

That's interesting. I never tried mine at close ranges because the directions specifically stated a 20 yard minimum. I've done the update without issues. Definitely interested in how you made out.
