I reached out directly to Pyramyd Air and AirForce Airguns to get written confirmation, because this topic keeps coming up and there’s a lot of misinformation floating around.

Here is the official answer I received:

• Pyramyd Air Customer Support: “These barrels are crowned but not choked as they come from AirForce.” (Matthew Z., Customer Advocate)
• AirForce Airguns (direct response): They confirmed the same thing — Texan barrels are not choked.AirForce orders slug barrels, and slug barrels are never choked.

So for anyone unsure or hearing mixed claims:Factory AirForce Texan barrels (.308, .357, .457, .50) are crowned, not choked.
