Others F.Y.I. Impromptu Wind Indicator

I was just thinking that others might find this info useful, it is so obvious, that I completely overlooked it before myself.

When setting up reaction targets on the edge of fields I like to have some type of wind indicator and that is usually a piece of orange flagging tape. I often can't find a roll when I need it, and skip it, and regret it later. The last time that was about to happen I also had to take out the trash. I had an epiphany the second I started to tie up the bag, with it's built in drawstring, that it was essentially the same thing. So, now when I need a wind indicator I just sacrifice a garbage bags drawstring, pretty easy, and findable. I just need to remember to check the color of the drawstring when I buy garbage bags now, lol!

when I was younger and worked on tug boats wind flags where so important
they offer more information then just what direction the wind is blowing based on how full and p they are they tell how fast the wind is blowing and they are proven to be pretty darn acurrate that is in at least a repeatable ball park range

I havnt noticed this with other types

but It begs the question.
on the homemade flags if you was to cut predetermined lengths and checked them in known wing condition I would assume you could determine the wind speed to wich I would think would be valuable information?

a good binder type paper clip on a known leant and you could have predictable conditions that would be somewhat accurate anytime you put a flag out?
