EVOL EVOL MINI what scopes?

what is everyone running on their EVOL MINI's for scopes?
i was thinking about the Athlon Helos 2-12x42 FFP IR
i figured the IR would be nice if i was out late in the evening with a red light maybe?
i may hae to just get another Midas TAC 4-16x44 i like this scope but if i get it not sure where it would gone once i do get the Athlon Helos.

I recently got that Helos. It is a nice scope. I like the bigger dot for how, and what, I shoot but I wouldn't want to use it for benchrest. (Who am I kidding, I hate benchrest.) It's a great hunting scope. For an FFP, the reticle is great all along it's entire power range, a rarity. The IR works well too.

i spot that thread a little earlier so sine you have the Athlon how does the glass compare on the discovery?

I have that 2-12 Discovery too, and the only comparable benefit to the Helos is that it is smaller/lighter. In all other regards I can't imagine anyone choosing it over the Helos. If money is an issue, save up, it will be worth it. I tried using the Discovery for a while and just couldn't get comfortable with the view. It works in a pinch, for a backdoor pester, but I don't like it for shooting sessions, a shame, because it did check all my boxes.

I’m looking around for a short compact scope for the mini also. A short ffp scope with an uncluttered reticle is what I’m hoping to find. Just really don’t want to put anything on a mini that’s disproportionately long and ruin the compactness of the mini. And I don’t need or want high magnification for it.

The Immersive Optic 5x30Pro is one of the only optics left that I want to try out. Try that one if you don't need high power, best field of view and over 3" of eye relief. Element has jacked the price here, some people have bought them from overseas.

I'll have to get back to you on differences in quality of glass when it's daytime. Both scopes are made in China, so it's hard to say if there's even a difference in where the glass was sourced from. Discovery Optics makes their own scopes at their own factory, and Athlon farms out the making of their scope design to scope making factories in China. They could be being made in the same building for all we know over here.

As far as what Pumacarl was getting at with comparing the view between the two, the small Discovery scope has a proportionately smaller front objective lense so the view is naturally going to be smaller and at dark a little less light is definitely getting through. The 44mm objective of the Athlon would be the way to go if this is an issue for you. I didn't find it at all bad because that is the design and general parameters of that style of scope.

I had a helos 2-12 for quite some time on a leshiy 2, and while it was a very clear and light scope, the horseshoe reticle on full mag was a little big, and would block out an entire chippers head at times. I swapped to an Arken epl4 which is as light as a Midas tac, just as good glass, and has illumination too. To date the 4-16 variant is my favorite lighter hunting scope.
Also worth mentioning is the veyron 4-16. Great scope for money. Not as clear as Arken or athlon, but much more compact and light weight.

ye ifigured as much but if you loow at a 700.00 Athlon and compare it to a Hawke of eqaul value i will take the Athlon as the glass and the scope as a hole is way way way better.

all my scope are MILL i did not intend to go that way but its what i got i am on the fence as to rather i want to just stay or change?

I have the adjustable version of this scope and I think it’s pretty great. Simple but useful reticle, light, short. I have an evol pre-ordered () that I am am considering the fixed power model you mentioned on it.

I am considering it for my CZ200 that I love. The Talos 10x I have on it is a little big for the rifle. I have an advocate for fixed power. The Vector 10x I had on it is good, just not as good as the Athlon. I think the Optisan would be perfect.

Thats the exact scope I want to get (16X midas Tac) to replace the 3x9 Hawke on my S510, great scope for the money but at 9X a 50Y sparrow is still pretty tiny . How far do you plan to shoot your evol mini that I am assuming will be in .22... I'd guess under 100Y? Definitely a 12X or 16X scope should do the trick!
